Construction Inspector Job Description The Construction Inspector is responsible for performing field inspections and construction materials testing to ensure conformance with construction plans and specifications. The role involves preparing inspection daily reports and testing data sheets. The inspector will perform a variety of tests, project-specific observations, and site assessments under general supervision using detailed controlled procedures. This position requires operating testing equipment, conducting tests on materials such as soil and concrete, and providing assessments through reporting. Effective communication with clients and project teams is essential. Responsibilities Perform field inspections and construction materials testing. Prepare inspection daily reports and testing data sheets. Operate testing equipment and conduct tests on materials (e.g., soil, concrete). Utilize drawings, specifications, and diagrams to perform tasks. Make detailed observations and provide limited interpretation of results. Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results. Calculate mathematical test results using a calculator. Communicate effectively with clients and project teams. Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure personal and others’ safety. Essential Skills ACI Concrete I Certification Valid Driver’s License with a reliable driving record Effective communication skills (written, verbal, listening) Basic math, calculator, and computer skills Ability to read and understand work plans Ability to work off shift and overtime as needed Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with nuclear density gauge NICET Certification Experience in masonry, construction, and concrete testing Ability to lift, move, push, and pull up to 50 pounds (occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance) Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication Ability to kneel, squat, walk, and stand for long periods Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold) Ability to climb occasionally Work Environment Technicians will be required to travel from site to site as needed, working in various weather conditions and environments.
