Job Title:

Construction Materials Tester / Inspector (CMT) Job Description This role involves field observation, inspection, and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt placement. The engineering technician will be responsible for conducting observations, inspections, and tests on construction projects, while accurately documenting findings in accordance with accepted engineering practices. Regular communication with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers is essential. Post-inspection, the individual must submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to verify data collected in the field. Responsibilities Conduct field observations and inspections of construction materials. Perform testing on soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt. Communicate effectively with site contractors, technicians, and project managers. Document findings following accepted engineering practices. Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on field data. Essential Skills Minimum of 2+ years of recent field experience. Experience in residential, commercial, or industrial sectors. Knowledge and experience in soils; concrete experience is a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Intermediate computer skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications ACI Certification preferred. Clean driving record. Certifications such as ICC, NICET, TROXLER, and QMS. Experience in materials testing/special inspection. Experience with DOT projects. Work Environment The individual will be working in the field nearly 100% of the time, primarily within residential subdivision developments, as well as commercial and industrial sectors. The role requires confirming soil suitability for construction. The work environment is outdoors, and candidates should be prepared for various weather conditions. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 – $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
