Job Description:
ZOFS is seeking a dedicated and experienced Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) to support ongoing and upcoming infrastructure improvement projects for both Amtrak, Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), and the Port Authority of NY and NJ. These major initiatives involve the inspection, commissioning, and quality assurance of elevator systems across key transit hubs and station environments, reinforcing the safety, reliability, and accessibility of our region’s transportation network. Projects include both new installations and modernization of existing systems under strict compliance with agency technical standards and federal regulations..
Responsibilities:
Perform in-depth inspections of elevator installations—including hydraulic and traction systems. Review construction and installation work for conformance with approved design documents, safety standards, and contractual specifications. Identify deviations, non-conformance issues, or safety concerns, and work collaboratively with contractors and agency representatives to resolve them efficiently. Prepare clear and comprehensive inspection logs, compliance reports, punch lists, and certification documentation in accordance with each agency’s recordkeeping systems. Monitor installation progress and support safe execution from pre-installation through final turnover. Attend safety meetings and perform site assessments to ensure that elevator work zones meet OSHA and agency-specific safety requirements.
Qualifications:
Progressive experience in elevator inspection, maintenance, or commissioning on public infrastructure projects. Valid QEI certification (Qualified Elevator Inspector) required. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline preferred. Strong time management and decision-making abilities. Excellent communication skills.
