Job Description

Environmental Monitor 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars Wyoming, NY Environmental Monitor As an Environmental Monitor, you will be the central person responsible for creating and sustaining a better environment for our employees, our communities, and our clients. The position will oversee the Alle-Catt Wind Energy Center project located in Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Wyoming Counties. This role is a full-time position expected to last ten (10) to twelve (12) months. This position will provide on-site environmental monitoring between six (6) and ten (10) hours a day, averaging between forty (40) – sixty (60) hours per week during active construction.

Responsibilities:

The following duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. Ensure compliance with erosion and sediment control practices as outlined in the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Environmental Management & Construction Plan (EM&CP). Provide expert guidance in agricultural areas during construction and restoration activities in line with New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets (NYSDAM) guidelines. Facilitate daily coordination with construction teams to ensure seamless environmental monitoring. Maintain high standards of environmental protection during the construction process, with an emphasis on regulatory compliance. Manage the preparation and timely submission of inspection reports to the Construction Manager. Coordinate daily with construction staff to determine the areas of focus for environmental monitoring. Discuss any concerns regarding the implementation or maintenance of erosion and sediment control practices as required by the SWPPP and EM&CP. Provide guidance and oversight during construction and restoration activities in agricultural areas in compliance with NYSDAM guidelines. Prepare daily inspection reports summarizing the findings of the environmental monitoring efforts. Submit daily inspection reports to the O’Connell Electric Project Manager at the end of each monitoring event.

Qualifications:

NYSDEC Qualified Inspector with current 4-Hour Erosion and Sediment Control Training. Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a comparable accredited program. Strong project management, estimating and cost control skills. Demonstrated understanding of civil, architectural, mechanical, and general construction techniques. Proficient in the use of computerized systems and project management software – specifically MS Office and Bluebeam Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities, as necessary. Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude. Ability to be initiative-taking, proactive and an effective collaborator. Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Compensation:

The minimum and maximum hourly rate of pay that O’Connell Electric Company, Inc. believes in good faith to be accurate for this position at the time of this posting is between $32.50 to $38.00. O’Connell Electric will compensate all hourly, nonexempt employees at time-and-one-half for all hours worked more than 40 hours each week. A Company vehicle, laptop, and cell phone will be provided.
