Electrical Inspector $80/hr Zodiac Solutions 56 Exchange Terrace, Providence, RI 02903
Role Objective:
The Onshore Cable Inspector will be responsible for the inspection, quality assurance, and oversight of jointing and termination works related to onshore/offshore cable systems. The role involves ensuring technical compliance, safety, and documentation standards across multiple offshore locations in line with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct detailed inspections of cable systems at each offshore location using designated inspection and reporting tools. Witness VLF, sheath, OTDR, and other relevant cable/termination testing procedures. Ensure contractors deliver complete and accurate documentation of works and services in alignment with approved RAMS (Risk Assessment & Method Statements). Enforce and comply with the company’s HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) requirements and safety regulations. Oversee QA/QC inspections of termination works and associated electrical infrastructure.
Key Tasks:
Perform and document QA/QC inspections including punch list creation and follow-up. Provide daily progress reports to the Export Cable Technical Scope Manager. Review contractor’s program and daily progress reports. Support project documentation in accordance with records management protocols. Process Permit to Work requests including Safety Rules. Ensure SAPs are available for switching activities. Verify availability and proper use of testing equipment and ensure timely execution of cable testing activities. Collect, record, and archive weather data as part of project documentation. Interface with the cable installation contractor, WTG, FOU, and OSS packages as relevant. Prepare and deliver end-of-shift reports, handover certifications, and testing documentation. Identify and report non-conformities or defects to the Cable Engineer.
Deliverables:
Technical inputs for installation interfaces and site recommendations. Scope-related reports, memos, and meeting minutes with contractors. Lessons learned submitted to the Project Engineer. Complete and archived jointing and termination documentation in the project’s record management system. KPIs /
Success Criteria:
High standard of inspection and quality control of jointing and termination works. Accurate and timely reporting and documentation. Zero HSE violations and proactive compliance enforcement. Clear and efficient communication with stakeholders and contractors. Timely resolution of defects or non-conformances.
Decision Authority:
Authorized to recommend changes to project timelines, costs, or quality to the Export Cable Project Engineer and the Technical Scope Manager.

Valid Driver’s License Completed First Aid Course Desirable:
Training/experience in HV/MV cable jointing and terminations Experience with VLF and OTDR testing Certified in Safe Work in High and Low Voltage Substation Environments Understanding of cable ladder/cleating systems, subsea cable hang-off systems, earthing/bonding Familiarity with CDM Regulations 2015
