We partner with Housing Authorities to ensure rental properties meet Public Housing Quality Standards (PHQS) and local housing codes. Are you semi-retired or someone with a flexible schedule looking to earn extra income on the side? We’re hiring a reliable and detail-oriented housing inspector in Oak Ridge, TN to complete approximately 20 inspections per week – which equals about two days of work. This low-commitment, per diem opportunity is perfect for individuals who enjoy being out in the field, working independently, and earning additional income without the demands of a full-time job. We especially welcome candidates with a background in housing inspections, property management, or similar fields who are passionate about helping communities stay safe and compliant.

Responsibilities:

Conduct inspections (initial, annual, special, and re-inspections) on residential rental units, including Section 8 properties Verify compliance with PHQS and local housing codes Use digital inspection software (training provided) to document findings Communicate professionally with tenants, landlords, and housing staff Write clear, accurate inspection reports

Requirements:

Experience in inspections, property management, or similar (preferred) Valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and insurance (required) Comfortable using mobile apps, Microsoft Word & Excel Detail-oriented and organized Able to pass a background check and drug test Spanish-speaking is a plus, but not required

Work is required approximately twice a week , based on the number of inspections.

Pay:

$21.00 – $33.00 per hour (based on inspection type)
