Our Municipal Practice has an exciting opportunity for anElectrical Inspector to join our team! This position offers theopportunity to work with and be mentored by a team of nationalexperts on technically challenging and innovate remedies.

Initially, this position will be based at a Client site inNashville, TN for the next three years, and will then transition tosupporting other engineering teams based out of Client sites or ourNashville, TN and/or other BC offices. The initial assignment willrequire interaction with representatives of the Client’simplementation team including clients, regulatory agencies,construction managers, and contractors. The successful candidatewill need to be able to prepare, understand and interpret designdocuments (technical specifications, construction drawings, etc.),produce daily field documentation such as reports, be able tocommunicate to the design team, conduct and document field changesto the design documents, work closely with a diverse,multidisciplinary project team, manage change, be able to performfield work such as construction inspections, and interface with theBC design team, field crews and clients as needed. Travel andextended in-field assignments are required. During constructiondown times and project transitions, this individual will be engagedto work on a broad spectrum of projects that include office and/orfield assignments to support site inspections, report development,designs, permitting, or other construction-related tasks.

DetailedDescription:

Duties include: Provide onsite Resident Inspectionservices for Water Reclamation Facility construction projects.

Collaborate with a Construction Manager to inspect constructionwork, address design issues; coordinate with Contractor’s projectmanager; obtain daily updates on project issues and status fromother Construction Inspectors; report issues to Client. Inspect anddocument construction projects from conception to completion.

Prepare and review design and bidding documents for completeness,constructability and biddability Generate project correspondence,including daily reports, and responses to Contractor correspondencein a timely manner to avoid delay, to convey the Owner’s position,and to protect the Owner’s interests. Review and analyzeContractors’ Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules to ensurecompliance with approved Contract schedule; address deficiencies.

Oversee onsite construction to monitor compliance with designdocuments, building and safety regulations along with qualityconstruction standards and techniques. Be familiar with the projectplans and specifications for enforcement of their requirements.

Coordinate and resolve issues in the field with clients/owners,consultants, contractors, designers and regulatory agencies and theaffected public. Prepare daily reports documenting weather,equipment, manpower, and construction activities, and dailyprogress photos, as well as monthly progress reports for projectstakeholders. Lead and / or assist with commissioning, testing, andstart-up of process systems/equipment or facilities for turningover to the owner’s personnel. Prepare effective and accuraterecord documents and all project, permit, and contract closeoutdocumentation. Meet contractual conditions of performance includingbudgets, schedule and quality.

Desired Skills and Experience:

Minimum 4 years of related experience performing constructioninspection, and facility start-up; 6+ years of experiencepreferred. BS degree preferable, in Civil Engineering, ElectricalEngineering, Construction Management or related field. Candidateswithout an engineering degree but possessing significantconstruction management experience will be considered as well.

Construction background highly preferred as well as having workedin a resident/field/quality assurance oversight capacity onprojects that involved water and wastewater treatment andconstruction. Experience with various water treatment technologiesand their components. Possess 10-hour OSHA certification withcurrent refresher or have the ability to take and pass thetraining. Strong organizational and technical skills required.

Strong verbal and written (technical writing) communication skillsrequired. Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.

Ability to provide designconsultation in specialized areas, makedecisions and solve problems. Knowledge of construction processes,means and methods. Ability to work effectively in a diverse teamenvironment. Ability to successfully manage and deliver on multipletasks with competing priorities. Ability to work for short periodsof time in hot and cold weather (occasionally extreme conditions).Ability to wear required personal protective equipment at sitesincluding hard hats, steel toed boots (or other approved toeprotection), safety glasses, safety vests, respirators, etc.

Ability to stand for several hours observing and documenting fieldconditions or critical construction operations. Ability to walkaround sites of varying size that may have areas of uneven, muddy,and/or rocky ground to perform inspections and take photographs.

Ability to remain alert and vigilant while working aroundconstruction equipment and be able to walk swiftly for a shortdistance to clear an area where a potential hazard is identified.

Ability to climb stairs (2-3 flights) or ladders (up to 24 ft) toaccess structures for visual inspection. Ability to lift objects upto 30 pounds.

Salary Range:

The anticipated starting pay range forthis position is based on the employee’s primary work location andmay be more or less depending upon skills, experience, andeducation. These ranges may be modified in the future.
