Position Summary We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Lead Septic Installer to oversee and perform the installation of residential and commercial septic systems. The Lead Installer will supervise crew members, ensure compliance with project plans and health department regulations, and ensure installations are completed efficiently, safely, and with the highest quality standards. This role requires both field leadership and hands-on construction work. Key Responsibilities Lead the installation of septic systems, including conventional, alternative, mound, and engineered systems. Interpret and execute septic design plans, blueprints, and permit requirements. Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steers, trenchers, and compactors to perform excavations and backfilling. Supervise and direct installation crews, ensuring productivity, safety, and adherence to project timelines. Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal codes, including health department and environmental regulations. Communicate effectively with customers, inspectors, engineers, and company management throughout the project lifecycle. Conduct final grading, site restoration, and cleanup following installation. Troubleshoot and resolve on-site issues, ensuring system functionality and proper drainage. Maintain accurate project records, including material quantities, site conditions, and inspections. Train and mentor junior crew members in proper installation techniques and safety practices. Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational training preferred). 5+ years of hands-on experience installing septic systems , with at least 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role . Valid septic installer license/certification (if required by state/local jurisdiction). Strong understanding of septic system types, soil conditions, and local health codes. Proficiency operating excavation and sitework equipment. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and permits. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Physical ability to lift heavy materials, work in varied weather conditions, and perform manual labor. Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required). OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred. Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) Experience with advanced treatment systems, pump stations, and repairs. Experience with laser levels, GPS layout, and trench safety systems. Existing relationships with local inspectors, engineers, and regulatory agencies.
