Heavy Civil Construction Foreman J.G. Leone Enterprises, Inc. Tucker, GA 30085 The Grading & Utility Foreman is responsible for direct in-field supervision of a field crew working on all phases of construction, maintenance, and repair operations including hiring, training, discipline, and safety, to ensure the projects are completed on time and within budget.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Understands the means and methods of construction associated with earthwork, site utility, concrete construction, and pipe installation (Proficient understanding of the installation of water, sewer, and storm drainpipe. Proficient understanding structural concrete construction). Ability to sequence work and strategically create effective project/manpower schedules. Effectively staff or self-performed work activities to achieve set goals. Provide clear directions to avoid repetitive mistakes or re-work. Directs work progress of subcontractors on job sites. Ensures subcontractors are meeting goals. Ensure all crew members receive proper training and guidance before starting work. Proficiently operates and maintains a variety of light and heavy equipment (including excavators, backhoes, loaders, rollers, jackhammers, compaction equipment, concrete floor saws and finishing tools, pipe saw, and hand tools). Properly set up and manage traffic control devices, pipe lasers, and transit. Read and interpret plans, shoots and interpret grades. Promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, to adopt safety as a culture. Proper knowledge of OSHA regulations and field safety. Attend/Conducts daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections. Assist with administrative tasks, daily reports (Raken), timekeeping (Paychexflex), and tracks and submits handbills and slips for projects. Routinely inventory project materials/equipment to ensure adequate supply is present for job completion. Maintain a clean work area at all times. The ability to work in several diverse locations is pertinent, as work locations may change daily. Desired Certifications Utility Foreman Certificate Competent Person Excavation Training Confined Space Entry Program Training OSHA 10-Hour Course 5+ years of experience in public works or heavy civil construction and maintenance including heavy equipment and motor vehicle operation. Education and/or Experience Experience working on relevant civil projects. Knowledge of grading (mass land grading), concrete (structural), and underground utilities (installation of storm, sewer and water). Knowledge of construction technology, codes, standards, etc.. Leadership attributes include critical thinking skills, the ability to analyze data and trends, professional conduct at all times. High-stress tolerance; must be able to thrive in a high-pressure environment. A highly motivated self-starting, autonomous individual who can work independently and set priorities while balancing guidance from the management team. Must function well as part of the overall team.
