PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Are you a hands-on problem solver who thrives in a dynamic field environment? The Supervisor Signals & Communications (S&C) – Communications at CPKC, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of state-of-the-art signals and telecommunications systems across our rail network. On the job, the expert will directly contribute to the smooth and secure movement of trains and equipment, shaping the backbone of our operations.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Support the installation, maintenance, and support of telecommunications systems, includingVHF, microwave, and Positive Train Control (PTC)systems, ensuring peak reliability and performanceWork collaboratively with the data network team to sustain accurate system functionality and troubleshoot issuesAssist in the support and maintenance ofcameras, desktops, printers, and Wi-Fi systems at assigned locationsDemonstrateproficiency in managing both print and digital information workflows, ensuring accurate communication and documentation across the rail networkPerformelectrical installationsand revisions while diagnosing and repairing S&C equipment to uphold safety and operational excellenceStay agile and dependable to support a24/7 operating environment, responding promptly to urgent situations100% field-based position, with exposure to diverse working conditions both indoors and outdoorsAdept at performing efficiently both autonomously and as part of a team
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or general equivalencyMust be at least 18 years of ageValid driver’s licensePrior experience working with telecommunications and/or railway signaling systemsSuccessful completion of an accredited electrical training program, such as those provided by a community college, trade school, military organization and/or associate degree or higherExcellent communication abilities, capable of delivering clear and concise instructions or directions, both over the phone and via radio

Management Conductor ProgramBecoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC.
