That’s why we’re looking for a hands-on Excavation Crew Leader who takes pride not just in operating equipment, but in leading by example in the trench. In this role, you’ll operate machinery, plumb sewer lines, and work alongside your crew to complete high-impact projects with safety, speed, and precision.

Refined Responsibilities:

Operate heavy equipment (excavators, backhoes, trenchers) for residential and commercial sewer and water line excavation Lead by example in the trench — installing and connecting sewer lines while directing crew activities on site Manage day-to-day jobsite operations, including site prep, utility locating, traffic control, and safety enforcement Interpret site plans, utility maps, and blueprints to execute precise and efficient digs Collaborate with project managers to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results Inspect job progress regularly to ensure accuracy, troubleshoot issues, and maintain quality and safety standards Perform basic equipment maintenance and promptly report repair needs Communicate professionally with customers, keeping them informed and addressing any on-site concerns

Qualifications Minimum Requirements:

3+ years of experience operating heavy machinery (excavators, backhoes, etc.) in excavation or construction Proven leadership experience — able to direct, motivate, and support a crew in the field Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, excavation safety standards, and utility locating procedures Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and utility maps Excellent communication skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset High attention to detail, strong work ethic, and a commitment to doing the job right

Preferred Qualifications:
