Civil Construction Foreman 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars Killington, VT Casella Construction is currently seeking to hire a Civil Construction Foreman to join our Heavy Civil Construction Team in Pittsford, Vermont. This position will support projects across Central Vermont. The Civil Construction Foreman is responsible for assisting the Superintendent with daily planning, directing and motivating crews, managing equipment and materials, and ensuring that all work is completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role requires a strong team player with a positive, can-do attitude and a commitment to high standards of quality and safety. The ideal candidate is a technically proficient, self-motivated leader in heavy civil construction who thrives in a fast-paced environment. They are organized, goal-driven, and excel in communication and technology. With deep expertise in excavation and utility installation, they confidently interpret plans, lead teams, and solve field challenges. Responsibilities:
Maintain Productive workflow Responsible for enforcement of safety standards with crew and others on worksite. Read plans and coordinate layout with supervisors. Utilize survey benchmarks and offsets to lay out work at hand. Complete daily paperwork and communicate effectively with all Casella Construction personnel Training requirements, both in person and online, as needed or required.
Winter Maintenance Responsibilities:
Requires the ability to plow snow during the winter months across various locations in the state of Vermont and New Hampshire. Must be able to operate snow removal equipment such as snowplows, salt spreaders, and snow blowers. Must be proficient in handling both light and heavy-duty vehicles equipped for snow removal, ensuring safe and clear passage on roads and pathways. Must be able to work in cold weather conditions and perform physical labor as needed.
Qualifications:
2+ years’ experience as a heavy civil construction foreman Thorough knowledge or planning, layout and execution of excavation, backfill and underground piping/utilities (Ductile iron pipe, PVC pipe, HDE pipe, reinforced concrete pipe, precast structures) Ability to provide accurate layout for line and grade from established benchmarks. Competency in working with deep excavations requiring the use of trench boxes and other support systems. Experience in mass excavation, demolition, site work and utility line work. Ability to operate heavy equipment – Loader, Haul truck, Excavator. Ability to read plans and specifications. Ability to take direction and manage multiple people. Desire to learn and constantly improve. Excellent oral communication skills. Good computer skills and experience with construction software, field logs. Ability to work outdoors in all weather. Able to lift 50lbs. Stand, kneel, walk, and stop for extended periods of time. Must be 18 years or older. High School Diploma or GED Valid driver’s license.
