Job Description

Skilled Laborer 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars Houma, LA 70360 The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the construction, maintenance, and repair of pipelines and facilities. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The Skilled Laborer plays a vital role in supporting the construction, maintenance, and operation of midstream pipeline facilities and infrastructure. This position requires a combination of technical skills, physical labor, and attention to detail to assist in various tasks related to pipeline installation, repair, and maintenance. The Skilled Laborer works under the direction of supervisors and experienced technicians to ensure the safe and efficient completion of projects while upholding quality standards and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of pipelines, stations, and other facilities. Perform manual labor tasks such as digging, trenching, and lifting heavy materials. Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively. Assist in the assembly and disassembly of pipeline components and equipment. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to complete tasks efficiently. Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge of pipeline operations. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas. Perform other duties as assigned by management. 1.

Pipeline Construction Support:

sist in the installation of pipelines, including trenching, pipe assembly, welding support, and backfilling, following established safety and quality procedures. As• Assist in the safe operation of construction equipment such as excavators, skid steers, and compactors under supervision and in accordance with safety regulations and equipment operating guidelines. Support welding operations by preparing materials, handling welding equipment, and providing assistance to certified welders as needed. 2. •

Maintenance and Repair Activities:

Assist in pipeline maintenance and repair activities, including valve inspections, leak repairs, corrosion control, and pipeline integrity assessments, under the guidance of experienced technicians. Perform routine maintenance tasks on pipeline facilities, equipment, and infrastructure, such as greasing fittings, replacing gaskets, and lubricating machinery to ensure operational reliability. 3. •

Facility Upkeep and Grounds Maintenance:

Participate in facility upkeep and grounds maintenance activities, including mowing grass, trimming vegetation, clearing debris, and maintaining access roads and rights-of-way to ensure safe and accessible work environments. Assist in facility cleaning, painting, and minor repairs to maintain the appearance and functionality of buildings, structures, and equipment. 4. •

Safety and Compliance:

Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations to minimize risks and promote a culture of safety excellence in the workplace. Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and toolbox talks to stay informed about safety protocols, hazards, and emergency procedures. Report any safety hazards, incidents, or near misses promptly to supervisors and take corrective actions to prevent recurrence. 5 .•

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of work performed, including time sheets, equipment usage logs, and maintenance activities, and submit reports as required by supervisors or company procedures. Document any equipment malfunctions, maintenance issues, or operational deficiencies observed during work assignments and communicate them to appropriate personnel for resolution.

Qualifications and Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in construction, maintenance, or skilled laborer roles Basic knowledge of pipeline construction methods, materials, and equipment, with the ability to learn and apply new skills under supervision. Ability to operate construction equipment and tools safely and effectively. Ability to perform physical tasks requiring heavy lifting, bending, stooping, and prolonged standing or walking in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions. Good communication skills, the ability to work effectively in a team, and a willingness to learn and follow instructions from supervisors and experienced technicians. Commitment to safety, reliability, and quality in all aspects of work, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential hazards or issues. Valid driver’s license and the ability to pass background checks, drug screenings, and other pre-employment requirements as mandated by company policies and regulatory agencies.
