DPW Laborer Position Available In Orange, New York

DPW Laborer Village of Florida Florida, NY 10921 Performs, as part of a road maintenance crew, work on drainage, ditching, cleaning culverts and driveway pipes; also, cleaning roadways of tree limbs, papers, and trash; also patching roads with asphalt plant mix; Performs, as part of a road maintenance crew, necessary roadside cleaning and maintenance work such as moving and trimming vegetation and grass; also, setting and painting guide posts and rails; Performs, as part of a highway construction crew, such work as cleaning roadway section of trees with axes and power saws; operating jackhammers to drill rock when necessary; helping lay pipe for culverts and driveways; directing traffic to protect driving public; sloping banks in a workman-like manner; helping during the application of gravel sub-base and general cleanup; Performs, as part of a road paving crew, such work as preparing fine grade; helping to apply road oil; laying stone to proper thickness; helping to maintain traffic; spreading chips or grit on roadway after stone is mixed to fill voids; helping to lay plant-mixed asphalt concrete to road surfaces; setting and painting guide posts and rails; Performs, as part of a park maintenance or construction crew, various unskilled tasks and work in connection with maintaining grounds, buildings and facilities involving manual operations and/or use of certain equipment such as mowers, road surfacing equipment, tractors, chain saws, and power tools; Performs, as part of a maintenance crew, work in connection with snow removal, shoveling snow from bridges, spreading salt and sand and helping on plow trucks, also assembling and disassembling snow fences and replacing broken guards; Assists in making, installing and maintaining traffic signs and markings; performs general building and grounds maintenance work of unskilled character; performs materials handling. Public works, construction, building and grounds experience preferred. 18.25/ hr CDL certification required
