Prep Crew Laborer – Columbia 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars West Columbia, SC 29169 Summary At Hi-Way Paving, we are general contractors in the construction field that specialize in significant amounts of concrete paving, storm drainage, and excavation on highways and airfields. We are currently seeking Prep Crew Laborers for our project in Columbia, SC with the ability to travel up to 100% to other projects in Charlotte, NC, Nashville, TN, and other future project locations TBD to help execute our slip-form concrete paving operations. If you are a road warrior that loves hard work and long hours this is the job for you. Responsibilities Clean and prepare construction and paving areas. Build and place forms. Tie rebar and place stabilizing steel bars. Shovel and rake dirt, gravel, and concrete. Read plans, instructions, and specifications to execute work. Load, unload, or identify construction materials, machinery, and tools. Distribute materials to the appropriate job site locations, according to project plans or specifications. Use hand and power tools, as necessary, to complete tasks. Direct vehicle traffic and signal equipment operators, as needed. Operate equipment such as backhoes, skid steer loaders, and any other equipment the employee is qualified to operate. Communicate effectively with other laborers, machine operators, and site management. Observe safe work practices and all safety protocols and instructions. Other tasks and duties, as assigned. Qualifications Construction-site labor experience, preferred. Heavy or highway construction experience, preferred. Ability to gain clearance in restricted/high-security zones. (Airport AOA, Military Bases, etc.) Valid driver’s license required. Physical capabilities required are climbing, lifting, carrying a minimum of 75 lbs., standing, sitting, walking, entering confined spaces, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, and performing repetitive actions.
