Construction Technician Underground Position Available In Spartanburg, South Carolina

Job Description:

Entry Level Position with Training Provided – responsible forall types of Network Construction, Aerial, Underground, and MDU.Assists and supports the Construction organization in daily workprocedures. Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify andenhance the customer experience.

Move, secure, load/unload cableequipment tools, or other materials as directed in plans or bysupervisor.

Dig holes, trenches, and fill holes, and trenches, buryconduit and cables, perform restoration of holes, and trenches.

Pullthe lasher, strand, and cable from pole to pole.

Perform trafficcontrol and/or flagging, as necessary.

Adhere to industry-specificlocal, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.

Follow andadhere to Aerial, Underground, MDU, B/A procedures andspecifications as well as contractor specifications.

Responsible forunderstanding and following all safetyrequirements/standards.

Operate and maintain crew vehicles.

Followall company policies and procedures.

Responsible for understandingCharters strand routing and design maps, and map symbology for thepurpose of supporting UG, MDU, and Aerial Construction.

Responsiblefor understanding Aerial, Underground, and MDU constructionmaterials and equipment, related equipment, and hand tools.

Cleanthe premises of all debris and materials.

Perform other duties asrequested by management. Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge Vision requirements: close vision, peripheral vision, andability to adjust focus; ability to differentiate between differentsizes and colors of wires. Ability to use any assigned equipment in a safe manner, inaccordance with company, industry and regulatory standards. Ability to safely lift 75 pounds. Ability to carry, climb and operate extension ladder, (approx.28 ft high and 75 pounds). Ability to climb poles using gaffs, hooks and climbing belt(weight limit of 350 pounds) as needed. Ability to work in confined spaces by crawling, bending,reaching, twisting. Ability to travel (including during inclement weather) to andfrom assigned territories and company facilities Ability to work outside for extended periods in any seasonand/or during inclement weather. Ability to work independently and as a team. Familiarity with computer operating systems and computersoftware applications Ability to complete documentation accuratelyRequired Education High School Diploma or equivalent work experience Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record withinCompany required standards. Required Related Work Experience andNumber of Years Entry level no experience necessary, will trainPreferredSkills/Abilities and Knowledge Qualified to obtain all necessary licenses required by thestate in which he/she is installing and/or servicing securityservices (if applicable). Knowledge of basic mathematics Knowledge of basic electronic testing equipment (e.g., ohmmeters) Ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
