Job Description

Traveling Commercial Superintendent –

Ground Up Construction Talent Foundry International Birmingham, AL Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Superintendent with a strong background in managing ground-up commercial, retail, and big-box construction projects. The ideal candidate will oversee daily operations on-site, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards. This role requires a highly motivated leader with the ability to manage various aspects of construction simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage all on-site construction activities from start to finish, ensuring successful execution of commercial, retail, and big-box projects. Effectively coordinate and communicate with clients, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams to meet project specifications and deadlines. Develop and maintain detailed project schedules to ensure timely progress and adherence to budget. Enforce safety protocols and comply with OSHA regulations, ensuring a safe work environment for all personnel. Review and manage daily reports, submittals, and change orders as necessary. Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control and compliance with project specifications. Resolve on-site issues, delays, or changes, escalating concerns to project management when needed. Lead, mentor, and manage construction crews and subcontractors to ensure high-quality, efficient work. Focus on cost control and identify opportunities for cost savings throughout the project.

Qualifications:
Experience:

Minimum of 5+ years as a Superintendent in commercial, retail, and/or big-box construction, with a focus on ground-up projects. Proven success in managing large-scale projects from inception to completion. In-depth knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and equipment, with an emphasis on safety and quality.

Project Experience:

Experience managing projects with budgets ranging from $500,000 to $50M+. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines. Proficiency in construction management software and project scheduling tools (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend).

Certifications:

OSHA 30-hour certification, First Aid/CPR, or similar certifications preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is a plus but not required. This position requires travel across the Southeast.
