We need a Superintendent to manage our projects. This role includes travelling to job sites to ensure each job is completed correctly and on schedule. The Superintendent will coordinate and supervise the crews performing the work. They will communicate often and manage expectations with the General Contractor Superintendent. This person will work closely and communicate often with our Project Manager in our central office. The Superintendent will report to the Project Manager to ensure the project remains on schedule and on budget. Jobsite locations range from the Central Alabama area and are up to five hours away. Overnight travel will be required depending on the location. The Superintendent does not need to reside near our central office in the Birmingham, AL area, but they should be willing to travel to any of the job sites and to the central office for job planning meetings as needed. All resumes must include a list of the last five to ten years of concrete projects where you were the Superintendent. The salary will depend on experience.

Responsibilities:

Ensure all jobsites run efficiently. Anticipate needs on the job site ahead of time. Adhere to the project schedule. Adhere to original plans and specifications. Perform layout from survey stakes. Schedule and coordinate material deliveries to the job sites ahead of time and in adherence with the schedule. Communicate frequently and professionally with the Project Manager and General Contractor Superintendent. Document changes thoroughly and professionally. Document incidents or issues that may impact schedule or budget. Coordinate and supervise onsite crews. Collaborate with Project Manager on budgets Collaborate with Project Manager on preconstruction planning meetings. Work closely with Project Manager to troubleshoot job site issues and any problems keep projects moving efficiently. Maintain a safe working environment. Ensure quality control on work performed. Track change orders.

Requirements:

A minimum of 10 years as a Superintendent for concrete projects. Strong written communication skills and writes clearly and concisely. Able to edit written communication for spelling and grammar. Strong verbal communication skills and is articulate. Able to relay information clearly and professionally. Able to communicate well in heated situations. Proficient with a computer and able to learn new technology. Must be able to operate an iPad. Experience with Topcon or Trimble is a plus. Bilingual in English & Spanish is a plus. Through knowledge of safety and OSHA guidelines. Capable of reading and accurately following drawings and specifications. Must be able to stand, crawl, climb ladders & stairs, etc. (physical activities associated with job sites). Must be able to lift to 70 lbs. Daily travel to job sites and overnight travel as needed. Valid Driver’s License. Cecil’s Concrete offers BCBS Health Insurance. All travel expenses will be reimbursed, and a truck allowance is available. The salary within the quoted salary range will depend on experience level and qualifications of the candidate.
