Job Description

Travelling Construction Supervisor 3.0 3.0 out of 5 stars Gainesville, FL 32609 • Hybrid work Construction Supervisor TSG is expanding and looking for a Construction Supervisor to join our team. This position is responsible for ensuring all materials are ordered and delivered to job sites in the Caribbean and Mexico and then travelling to the destinations to install the mechanical and pump equipment for up to three to six weeks is required. When not travelling, this position will be reviewing drawings, bills of material and other tasks as required. Requirements are at least five years of installation and supervision of complex construction projects, three of which must include supervision of staff. A forklift certification and valid passport are required within one month of hire. Spanish fluency is preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assists in the planning and performance of responsibilities to ensure that installations are performed properly, follow applicable regulations and are meeting stated deadlines Reviews, interprets and explains mechanical drawings (plans, blueprints, site layouts, specifications, etc.) for design, construction and/or alteration of treatment plants and facilities to ensure the accuracy and feasibility of the execution and successful completion of projects May assist with reviewing contract bids and with inspecting contractual services for compliance with contract to determine appropriate construction methods Confers with consultants, engineers, design staff, architects and contractors to plan and implement projects, preparing periodic status reports Works with engineer oversite regarding finance, purchasing, planning and building inspections and may purchase supplies, tools, materials and equipment Participates in, inspects and supervises construction process from shipping to installation, ensuring quality control standards are met and SOPs are followed Works with Engineering Supervisor and Construction Manager to work within project construction budget and informs manager of potential issues Adheres to work performance and safety standards, policies and procedures Inspects in-progress and completed work Inspects and/or reviews projects and maintains logs and/or other records with photographs Travels locally and internationally for several weeks at a time at least 40% of the time Investigates damage, accidents or delays at construction sites and assists in their resolution to ensure that proper construction procedures are being followed Assists in performing or contracting others to perform prebuilding assessments, such as conceptual cost estimating, rough order or magnitude estimating and feasibility Measures dimensions and verifies level, alignment or elevation of structures and/or fixtures to ensure compliance with building plans Utilizes Microsoft Word, Project, Outlook and Excel (and similar programs) in daily activities Coordinates and participates in the maintenance of records, preparation of reports Assists with the packaging, loading and movement of incoming and outgoing projects, equipment and materials in accordance with organizational policies and procedures Provides in-house training and cross training May operate forklift and other construction equipment (saws, grinders, hand and power tools, etc.) Maintains professional and technical knowledge through ongoing learning processes Attends work on a continuous and regular basis and works effectively with others Performs other related duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma and at least five (5) years of full-time experience in the installation and supervision of complex construction projects; three (3) of which must include supervision of staff or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Fluent Spanish is required.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES

Valid Driver’s License required at the time of hire and both a Forklift certification and valid Passport are required within three (3) months of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, stooping, bending or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders and distinguishes between shades of color. May perform physical labor.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work is typically performed in an office where the employee is often required to sit for prolonged periods and in a warehouse or site location, where the employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease and prolonged high noise levels. When in the warehouse and site settings, this work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, gloves, goggles and work boots. This work requires performance of tasks outdoors under varying climatic conditions. Frequent local and extended international travel is required.
