Position Title:
Development Manager – Retail/Residential Projects Position Overview We are looking for a strategic and results-driven Development Manager to lead the end-to-end execution of a major mixed-use development project, combining retail and residential components. This role is instrumental in steering the planning, entitlement, design, and construction processes while ensuring alignment with project goals, budgets, and timelines. The ideal candidate brings proven leadership, technical expertise, and stakeholder management skills to drive project success. Key Responsibilities Project Leadership & Execution Lead all phases of development—from feasibility analysis through project completion—for a retail/residential mixed-use development. Create and manage comprehensive project schedules, budgets, and cash flow forecasts. Align all project stakeholders including architects, engineers, legal teams, and contractors to ensure delivery in accordance with the project vision and financial objectives. Entitlements & Regulatory Compliance Oversee all entitlement efforts, including zoning approvals, permitting, and environmental review processes. Act as the primary liaison with city agencies, community boards, and regulatory authorities to secure necessary project approvals. Design & Construction Management Collaborate with internal and external design teams to balance function, aesthetics, and cost-efficiency. Manage general contractors and construction partners to ensure quality control, timely delivery, and budget adherence. Financial Oversight & Reporting Contribute to the creation and refinement of pro formas and financial models. Monitor project expenditures, manage budget tracking, and oversee financial reconciliation. Deliver clear, concise project updates and reports to leadership, investors, and other key stakeholders. Community & Stakeholder Relations Represent the development in public forums, community meetings, and planning hearings. Build and maintain positive relationships with local businesses, residents, and other stakeholders to support community engagement and transparency. Qualifications Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate Development, Urban Planning, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. 5-7 years of experience in real estate development or project management, with a strong preference for mixed-use (retail/residential) project experience. Demonstrated success in managing complex development projects from concept through completion. In-depth knowledge of entitlement, permitting, and construction processes. Exceptional organizational, negotiation, and communication abilities. Proficiency in project management tools, Excel, and financial modeling software.
