Summary:
The Estimating Manager leads and oversees the Estimating Department, ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and competitive bids. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day estimating operations, developing team capabilities, refining estimating procedures, and aligning estimating strategies with company goals. The Estimating Manager plays a key role in business development efforts by ensuring quality proposals and maintaining strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage, support, and mentor the estimating team to ensure high-quality output, consistent standards, and professional development. Oversee project take-offs and reviews, ensuring accuracy in scope, material, labor requirements, and budgetary planning. Lead bid strategy meetings and coordinate with leadership on go/no-go decisions. Review and approve estimates and proposals prior to submission for accuracy, completeness, and profitability. Support value engineering and client engagement efforts during the preconstruction phase. Ensure consistency in proposal formats, scope documents, and bid submissions. Maintain ownership of the estimating process and tools, including INNERGY, and continuously identify improvements to increase efficiency. Coordinate workload and assignments within the team based on project deadlines and estimator strengths. Collaborate with Sales, Project Management, Engineering, and Production to ensure alignment of estimates with operational capabilities. Interface with vendors and subcontractors to ensure current pricing and reliable sourcing. Maintain and improve historical cost data to inform future project estimates. Track estimating performance metrics and develop strategies for cost and process improvements. Analyze variances between estimated and actual costs post-project completion to identify trends and enhance accuracy. Represent the Estimating Department in high-level meetings and strategic planning sessions. Support talent recruitment, onboarding, and training for new staff. Ensure that all estimates comply with company risk management policies and margin targets. Provide input for annual budgeting, sales forecasting, and operational planning.

Education And/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered. Minimum 10 years of experience in architectural millwork estimating or related construction environment, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or managerial role. Extensive experience reading and interpreting blueprints, architectural drawings, and specifications.
Technical Skills:
High proficiency in INNERGY or similar estimating software. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet research. Strong mathematical skills, including cost analysis, markups, rates, and percentages. Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, or other project management and takeoff software is a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Primarily office-based role with occasional site visits as required. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds (plans, samples, etc.).
