This role is based in South Florida. The role of Heavy Civil Superintendent is critical to ensuring that all projects achieve first time quality. This career opportunity requires strong analytical and technical abilities and demands fast, but carefully thought-out results. Strong leadership potential and control of the work process from beginning to end is necessary. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated with an eagerness to learn and be a team player.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Must be dependable and have at least 5 years of underground utility construction experience Must have extensive experience on installation of water-sewer mains, services, tie-ins, and drainage Schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in critical path to ensure timely completion Supervise and track daily production of the crews Review weekly crew timesheets and maintains appropriate work record-documents Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed Communicate with project team regarding ASI’s, RFI’s, and Material Submittals Ensure that subcontractor is fully executing and complying with his contracted scope of work Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to project team for resolution Maintain daily log (written) of activities on the jobsite Ensure subcontractor has corrected all deficiencies identified by project team Walk all units on project daily to monitor activities and assist in future planning Preside over weekly subcontractor meetings designed to coordinate the work Issue notices of non-compliance to subcontractors regarding quality of work or scheduling Perform job progress and completion punch list identification and completion Plans, organizes, and directs daily operations of assigned job sites Coordinates and reviews the work plan for repair and installation projects Identifies and resolves staff deficiencies and carries out disciplinary procedures as required Assists in the calculation of necessary materials and supplies for job sites Coordinate MOT Manage costs of the project Ensure the job site is always clean and organized Maintain a safe work environment per OSHA standards Identify subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards Have weekly safety meeting with employees Performs other related duties as requested SKILLS Excellent communication skills Knowledge of water and sewer preventative maintenance Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety precautions of the work Must be team player and able to get along with a diverse group of people with a common goal. Ability to prepare clear, written reports and record keeping Must be able to read and understand engineered drawings Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus
QUALIFICATIONS OSHA-30
certification Confined Space and Trenching certification Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Bending:
Bending, stretching, and twisting are required during inspection of job site.
Crawling/Kneeling :
Occasionally crawling to check equipment/machinery for safe day-to-day operation and for general maintenance needs.
Climbing:
Ladder climbing is performed to enter/exit the equipment or machinery.
Lifting/Carrying:
Tools, minimum of 15 pounds.
Sensory Demands:
Suitable hearing, near and far sighted vision, and great spatial perception.
