Jacksonville, FL Job Type – Full-time General Purpose of Position TYME Consulting Engineers is seeking a highly motivated and experienced geotechnical and material testing Laboratory Manager to lead and oversee our Jacksonville, FL laboratory operations. This key role ensures the efficient, accurate, and compliant execution of all laboratory testing activities, while fostering a productive and quality-focused work environment.
Responsibilities:
TYME Consulting Engineers, a leading civil engineering firm, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Laboratory Manager to oversee our Jacksonville, FL laboratory operations. The successful candidate will supervise daily laboratory operations, manage staff, ensure compliance with AASHTO, CCRL, and FDOT regulations, analyze laboratory data, and communicate effectively with project engineers.
Responsibilities include:
Supervising and performing daily laboratory operations, ensuring efficient and accurate testing procedures. Managing laboratory staff, including training, performance evaluations, and scheduling. Analyzing laboratory data and preparing clear and concise reports for project engineers. Identifying trends in laboratory data and developing strategies to improve efficiency and productivity. Maintaining accurate and complete laboratory records. Overseeing maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment. Staying up-to-date on industry standards and best practices.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in a construction material testing laboratory, with prior supervisory experience. Proven ability to manage and motivate staff, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Possession of CTQP certifications related to construction materials testing (required), with experience in specific AASHTO, CCRL, and FDOT testing procedures being a plus.
Skills / Abilities
Strong understanding of AASHTO laboratory accreditation requirements and procedures. Proven ability to develop and implement a Quality Management System (QMS) for AASHTO accreditation. Experience with maintaining and managing AASHTO accreditation documentation, including test methods, quality control procedures, and proficiency testing results. Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a team of laboratory technicians. Ability to perform and delegate tasks effectively and prioritize workload. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record, free of accidents and violations. Experience with Project Management tools and techniques including scheduling, conflict scoping, risk management, staff resource management, and quality management. Proficient use of MS Office and ability to learn and adapt to new software quickly. Ability to manage data and demonstrate proven analytical ability. Ability to receive, follow, and/or explain instructions and guidelines effectively. Ability to complete work assignments independently and function effectively as part of a cohesive team. Exhibits excellent time management and attention to detail, with proven ability to prioritize, organize and multi- task efficiently. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, vendors, and other employees. Prompt and accurate communication abilities, both verbal and written. Ability to manage and resolve stressful situations.
