JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The basic function of the Superintendent is to coordinate and supervise craft employee activities and subcontractors ensuring the smooth execution of all on-site construction activities. The Superintendent reports to and is directly accountable to the Project Manager.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience Required:
5 years of supervisory experience in the construction field.
Preferred:
8 or more years of supervisory experience in the construction field. Qualifications Proven experience in supervising teams on construction projects. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety protocols. Ability to read blueprints and specifications, with a focus on quality control constructability.

/ Abilities Leading and Directing all job-site operations, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and on schedule. The ability to motivate employees and handle any situation that occurs on the project. Coordinating and Collaborating with the owner’s team and trade contractors across various disciplines to maintain seamless project execution. Must have excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills to ensure that all necessary parties are informed to ensure smooth operations on the project. In addition, you must be able to manage material deliveries, storage, labor resources, and daily work logs. Overseeing the CPM Schedule , ensuring that project timelines are met and adjusting as necessary to keep the project on track. Maintaining Project Documentation , including plans, specifications, and progress reports, ensuring all documentation is up to date and organized. Managing Site Safety and Security , enforcing compliance with all safety protocols and regulations to protect workers and assets. Must have thorough knowledge of all safety requirements. Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, and methods). Scheduling and Facilitating Meetings and Inspections , ensuring that all necessary parties are informed, and inspections are conducted on time. Physical Requirements Must be able to see well (either naturally or with correction). Coordinate the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers with full use of hands, arms and fingers. Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding. Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or work at any height. Lift and carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Hire, train, evaluate and terminate craft personnel, following established company policies, procedures, and practices. Supervise craft personnel and other contractors to ensure project is constructed by design, within budget and on schedule. Assist project management with drawing interpretations and recommend construction methods and equipment. Ensure all personnel comply with safety and working procedures. Assume responsibility for productivity of project. Promote a safe work environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives and other contractors. Plan, coordinate and supervise on-site functions. Supervise craft employees and other contractors as required by the contract. May authorize and approve all project personnel transactions, purchase requisitions, field design change requests, etc. Provide technical assistance, interpret drawings, and recommend construction methods and equipment as required. Ensure all on-site personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, etc. Document all violations; notify project management, recommend/implement corrective actions as required. Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials & equipment, and contractual performance of the project. Ensure we have all the correct MOT in place, and are using FDOT approved methods of traffic control, or COT approved methods. Ensure all erosion control measures dictated in the plans are in place and take additional steps to put measures in place for areas in need or are in an anticipated problem area. Verify that locate tickets for active and upcoming excavation sites are up to date and have fresh markings. Superintendents will coordinate with subcontractors and schedule then for upcoming work. Superintendents will also be responsible for crew scheduling, equipment scheduling, and trucking/hauling scheduling. Coordinate with utility owners on the scheduling of utility protection and relocation. Coordinate with the COT on scheduling water outages/cut-in connections. Ensure Subcontractors and foremen have scheduled QC testing. Make sure projects are kept clean and professional looking. Keep track of all weather and recovery days that HCI is entitled to.
