Job Summary:
The Senior Superintendent will be responsible for the overall on-site management of commercial construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of commercial construction. The Senior Superintendent will serve as the primary on-site representative for Friedrich Watkins of Tampa, LLC, fostering positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Management:
Direct and supervise all on-site construction activities, including planning, scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation.
Develop and implement project schedules, ensuring critical milestones are met and potential delays are proactively addressed.
Monitor project progress daily, identifying potential issues and implementing corrective actions.
Manage project budgets, including cost control, tracking, and reporting.
Conduct regular site meetings with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure clear communication and coordination.
Prepare and submit daily reports, progress reports, and other necessary documentation.
Ensure all project close-out procedures are completed accurately and efficiently.
Safety & Quality Control:
Champion a strong safety culture on site, enforcing all company safety policies and procedures, as well as OSHA regulations.
Conduct regular safety inspections and implement necessary corrective measures.
Oversee quality control, ensuring all work meets project specifications, plans, and industry standards.
Implement and maintain quality assurance programs.
Team & Subcontractor Management:
Supervise, mentor, and motivate on-site project staff.
Effectively manage and coordinate all subcontractors and vendors, ensuring adherence to project specifications and schedules.
Resolve conflicts and issues that may arise among trades or between the project team and subcontractors.
Client & Stakeholder Relations:
Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, maintaining open and collaborative communication.
Address client concerns and requests promptly and professionally.
Foster positive working relationships with all project stakeholders.
Technical Expertise:
Interpret blueprints, specifications, and other construction documents accurately.
Possess a strong understanding of various construction methods, materials, and equipment.
Problem-solve complex technical issues that arise during construction.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience as a Superintendent or Senior Superintendent in commercial construction.
Proven experience managing projects ranging from $5M to $50M+ across diverse commercial sectors (e.g., healthcare, industrial, office, retail, hospitality).Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
OSHA 30-hour certification required.
Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam).Strong knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
Excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and make sound decisions under pressure.
Must be able to travel to various job sites within the Tampa Bay area and surrounding regions as needed.
Physical Demands:
Ability to work in various weather conditions and on active construction sites.
Ability to stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
May be required to work extended hours as project demands dictate.
