Responsibilities for lead estimator Responsible for obtaining bids on projects from Subcontractors and Suppliers Responsible for communicating with clients and architects Responsible for proper training of new Estimators, when necessary Review estimates to determine data completeness and procedures Review project plans, specifications and coordinates with the team to confirm complete scope Meeting with Subcontractors to negotiate better prices. Obtaining multiple bids for each scope and selecting the most suitable for the project. Understanding estimating scope of work, schedule of execution, estimate structure, formats, reports Review subcontractor’s estimates for completeness and reasonable basis that supports the project’s physical scope Assist project teams in resolution of estimating issues involving cost, schedule and changes Qualifications for lead estimator Bachelor’s degree in construction related field Supervisory or project leadership experience in a construction environment is preferred 10 to 15 years experience in the commercial construction industry Must possess strong organizational, negotiation, interpersonal, and leadership skills, have the ability to work hands-on and independently, part of the team Proficient MS Office computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Word)
