Full Job Description Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Director to lead our organization’s safety initiatives and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and Florida Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, etc.

Essential Duties:

Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws relating to the health and safety of Company personnel. Represent the Company during any regulatory inspection such as OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, etc. Provide new employees with health and safety orientations, and develop materials for these presentations. Develop and maintain health and safety training matrix. Develop and conduct safety training and education programs, and demonstrate the proper use of safety equipment. Ensure weekly Toolbox Safety Trainings occur at each Company location/jobsite as required. Manage the Company behavior based Safety Program and continually grow the safety culture. Investigate any accidents or ‘near miss’ incidents to determine the root cause and document findings. Assist in the planning and implementation of loss prevention, risk control, and safety policies and procedures in compliance with all Company safety programs, and local, state, and federal OSHA regulations. Assist with planning, development, and implementation of programs to train forepersons and employees in Company work safety, loss prevention, and loss control practices and policies. Travel to jobsite locations to oversee and assess the safety of projects. Perform documented inspections at designated jobsites on a monthly basis to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards and loss control issues, determine corrective or preventable measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented. Maintain records of all communications with any entities regarding safety or liability related issues. Coordinate the HAZCOM programs for all locations and maintain the chemical inventory. Develop, maintain, and update facility emergency and fire prevention plans. Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence and compliance of fire protection equipment, safety equipment, and first-aid supplies. Perform projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Formal education in health and safety or equivalent experience working in a health and safety capacity for a period of between 5 to 10 years preferred; commercial and civil site construction background desired. Ability to establish credibility with field operations. Excellent verbal and written communications skills; excellent presentation skills. Knowledge and familiarity with OSHA, DOT, and FMSCA regulations. Knowledge and familiarity with Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) rules. Experience in developing Occupational Health and Safety written programs. Knowledge of insurance and legal programs. Experience in performing safety audits and inspections. Ability to work independently with little direction. Excellent time management skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficient in Microsoft Windows Office and other basic computer skills. Must have the ability to teach

OSHA 10 & 30

hour courses. Ability to conduct yourself in an honest and ethical manner at all times. Valid Driver’s License with a driving record that meets Company standards and insurability requirements. Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) desired.
