Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Director of Construction to lead the execution of major renovation and development projects across our portfolio. This role will oversee all phases of construction management — from contract negotiation through project closeout — ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. You will manage Project Managers and Development Team personnel while collaborating closely with contractors, consultants, and city officials.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage all phases of renovation and construction projects. Negotiate contracts with contractors, vendors, and consultants, ensuring favorable terms. Oversee project documentation, including contracts, budgets, RFIs, submittals, and schedules. Monitor compliance with all applicable regulations, building codes, and safety standards. Manage project budgets and timelines, proactively adjusting plans as necessary to meet objectives. Coordinate communication among owners, design consultants, contractors, and city inspectors. Conduct regular site inspections to track progress and maintain construction quality standards. Manage quality control and ensure all projects meet company standards for design, appearance, and functionality. Review and approve contractor payment applications and change orders. Proactively solve construction challenges with systematic and organized approaches. Ensure coordination among all design disciplines to eliminate conflicts and avoid costly mistakes.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Minimum 10 years of experience in construction management, specifically within commercial real estate or hospitality renovations. Proven experience overseeing large-scale projects from inception to completion. Strong proficiency with construction management practices and software, including Microsoft Excel. Exceptional organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail. Willingness to travel to project sites as needed. Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred but not required.
