Solar Construction Manager (Electrical) Job Description This position involves acting as the owner’s representative to oversee third-party solar field electrical installation-project sites are in Texas Florida, and Louisiana-must be willing to travel! The role includes managing the construction of solar plants with a focus on DC systems, power conversion units, medium voltage AC collection systems, safety, SCADA, and instrumentation. The construction manager is responsible for the oversight of electrical work and startup, ensuring compliance with engineering plans and specifications, quality control, adherence to schedules, and meeting safety goals. Responsibilities + Manage electrical scope, including schedules and engineering interface. + Collaborate with resources and sub-suppliers in various disciplines to determine project priorities, schedules, and work plans to meet milestones. + Report daily, weekly, and monthly on progress, quality control, and safety. + Record, name, and upload electrical installation QC photographs. + Facilitate processes with parties on requests for information and design change notifications. + Ensure projects are implemented efficiently, effectively, and safely according to department procedures, local regulations, contracts, and policies. + Verify constructability, advise on proper resource allocations, assess field status, and resolve issues as needed. + Walk down systems, develop, and manage punch-lists. + Review project completion packages for completeness and accuracy to as-built standards. + Interface with designated safety, engineering, and quality control parties. + Oversee solar field commissioning activities. + Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Essential Skills + Electrical construction means and methods knowledge, including NEC and NFPA. + Drawing review and field electrical quality control inspection. + Organizational skills and progress reporting. + Proficiency in computer skills including Outlook, PDF edit, Word, Excel, document control systems, and PowerPoint. + Communication skills with third parties and suppliers. + Understanding of scheduling and planning. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Understanding of SCADA and fiber optics. + Knowledge of electrical and fiber testing, including TTR, VLF, ODTR, Fall of Potential, VOC’s, etc. + Ability to work collaboratively in a TEAM environment. + Experience with Unifier for recording and uploading electrical installation QC photographs. + Knowledge of inspection of equipment to verify correct installation per scope of work and specifications. Work Environment The role requires working at site locations, with travel involved. The environment is collaborative, focusing on safety as the number one priority, and involves interfacing with EPC, sub-contractors, operations teams, and other stakeholders on site. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 – $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
