POSITION TITLE
Literacy Demonstration Site Coordinator – Science of Reading (Part-Time)
NOTE:
This position will be funded through the Literacy and Justice for All and may be eliminated when the funding expires.

JOB SUMMARY
The overall purpose of this position is to create a program that coordinates educator visits to include tours, focused conversations, and resource guides, allowing others to learn from our experiences, challenges, and successes implementing Structured Literacy.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in elementary education, with expertise in early literacy and structured literacy practices
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaboratively identify and support demonstration classrooms and schools exemplifying high-fidelity Science of Reading (SoR) practices.
Collaborate with principals and teachers to prepare demonstration sites for hosting external educators.
Plan and facilitate site visits for external district teams, including logistics, classroom walkthroughs, reflections, and workshops.
Create and disseminate observation tools, planning templates, and resource guides for visiting educators.
Collaborate with the Communication Division to develop written and video resources showcasing MCS’s literacy practices and impact.
Serve as a liaison between Marietta City Schools and external partners, including state initiatives and literacy organizations.
Coordinate with the External Affairs Division to perform grant writing and funding efforts related to literacy outreach and demonstration site expansion.
Maintain strong communication with all stakeholders, promoting Marietta’s literacy successes at the regional and statewide levels.
Monitor and document outcomes from site visits, including visitor feedback, tool adoption, and instructional shifts in partner districts.

Physical Demands:
Vision, hearing and verbal communication are essential factors in performing required tasks, duties, and responsibilities. Frequent movement from classroom to classroom and driving from school building to school building is required. Some travel for professional development is also required. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds, stand and walk for long periods of time, and withstand extended periods of time in an automobile while traveling. Must have flexibility in hours worked since teacher meetings often occur before and after regular school hours.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment varies depending on the classroom noise level. The employee may face many interruptions and shifting priorities day to day. Working with specific students may require intervention training.
