Job Description

Solar Construction Manager (Utility-Scale) – Carlton, GA (Near Athens)

The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding a full-time Construction Manager (CM) to oversee the construction of a utility-scale solar facility near Athens, Gia, acting as a representative of the owner’s team. The CM will manage the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor responsible for project execution for a period of at least six months, with potential for extension based on project needs.
This position offers the opportunity to work on a high-profile renewable energy project while representing one of the industry’s leading consulting and engineering firms.

Your Role:

Oversee EPC contractor activities to ensure the project is built in accordance with design specifications, budget, and schedule.
Review estimator proposals and construction drawings for accuracy, constructability, and cost effectiveness.
Monitor daily construction activities and maintain detailed field logs.
Organize and manage job schedules and workforce activities.
Coordinate purchasing and tracking of materials; secure long lead-time items to avoid project delays.
Manage and enforcepliance with safety policies,pany standards, and client requirements.
Order on-site testing services and ensure all necessary inspections are scheduled and passed.
Communicate effectively with internal teams, EPC contractors, subcontractors, clients, and vendors.
Negotiate purchase orders for large material orders and coordinate equipment deliveries.
Conduct regular meetings with clients, subcontractors, and internal project stakeholders.
Support planning, forecasting, and project reporting activities.
Monitor and secure job site inventory and ensure field crews have necessary equipment.
Ensure timesheets, project documentation, and reports arepleted accurately and timely.
Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
Additional duties as required.

Required Skills and Competencies:

Strong project management skills: planning,anizing, and executing construction projects within budget and on schedule.
Technical expertise in solar energy systems, electrical engineering, and construction best practices.
Strong leadership and supervision skills, with the ability to motivate teams and enforce site policies.
Excellent verbal and writtenmunication skills for interactions with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and field teams.
Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve construction or scheduling challenges.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
Gia Stormwater Certification Levels 1A and 1B are required.
Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years of experience managing utility-scale solar construction projects.
Strong knowledge of Gia construction permitting and inspection requirements.
Experience working directly with EPC contractors as an owner’s representative.
