JOB SUMMARY

Communities in Schools is a nationwide program implemented by Volunteers of America North Louisiana in achievement zone schools within Caddo Parish. The Site Coordinator will be employed and supervised by Volunteers of America North Louisiana, will work at the school site, and will be managed by the Principal of the school. This school based program employs a full time Site Coordinator on the campus to address day-to-day needs of case managed students. We supply uniforms, school supplies and other items that may be lacking to reduce academic barriers in the students life to keep them enrolled in school. We broker services such as tutoring, counseling, dental care, after school programs as well as referring parents to community resources and other programs through partners and volunteers. Lastly, we use an evidence-based service delivery model to monitor and adjust services, and evaluate the effectiveness of achieving school and student individualized goals. The starting pay is $40,000. Minimum requirements are a bachelor’s degree in the social services area and experience working in schools or with children. We are currently in twelve elementary, middle and high schools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Implementation of the CIS model of integrated student services: Lead the implementation of the CIS model; requires working closely with school administrators, staff and teachers . This process will include the building and nurturing of school staff relations, relationships between the school and community, and the engagement of volunteers for the delivery of services. Work with school leadership to lead the annual needs assessment process. This process will be based on data, such as data collected by school districts and schools as part of overall school improvement initiatives, surveys and discussions with staff, parents and students, and evaluation results from the previous year. The outcome of the needs assessment is the outline of key needs of the school and of the most at-risk students. Lead the development and implementation of the school site and individual student plans . The plan will include measurable objectives, as well as procedures for delivering school-wide services, targeted and sustained services, monitoring and adjusting services, and evaluating and reporting effectiveness. Lead and coordinate the delivery of evidence-based services. The site coordinator will route/provide services to the school and selected students based on data. These services could include health fairs, crisis intervention, uniform closets, tutoring, food pantries and/or behavioral health. Through a single point of contact-the site coordinator -individual student and school-wide needs are assessed and connections made between the school, the student and targeted community resources. Other duties may include but not limited to Telecommunication and Home Visits will be expected and assigned as required . The coordinated delivery of these services is to keep children in school and help them grow up healthy, caring and responsible. Monitoring and adjust services . The Site Coordinator will work with/lead the site team in regularly monitoring and adjusting services as needed to maximize effectiveness and impact. Evaluate the effectiveness of achieving school and student individualized goals . The Site Coordinator will lead the systematic data collection to evaluate the effectiveness of services in achieving school-wide goals and addressing the needs of individual students. Lead the Site Team in annual reporting . Annual end-of-year reports will be provided to school, District, and CIS leadership, which are instrumental in planning site services for the following year, as well as contributing to reports for partners, local

chapter, and the CIS national office. EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, or related field required. Must have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to analyze and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical manuals, and governmental regulations. Ability to write and edit reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the general public, orally and in writing. Ability to speak effectively to guest, candidates or employees of the organization.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Regular and satisfactory attendance and punctuality are required. The office space is located at the school. Other duties within the scope of the employee’s skills and abilities as assigned by the supervisor. Criminal background check required.
