Baton Rouge, Louisiana Position Overview The STEM Fellows Site Coordinator is a part-time, locally based position responsible for supporting the implementation of the
STEM NOLA STEM
Fellows Program in a designated city or region. This role is critical to ensure the smooth, consistent, and high-quality delivery of local programming. The Site Coordinator serves as the primary logistical lead and local liaison, managing communications with the STEM Fellows participants and their families, identifying potential business sites for programming, and coordinating event logistics under the direction of the STEM Fellows Manager/Coordinator. This role is not responsible for business development or partner engagement but will assist in identifying and sharing relevant local leads for follow-up by the Manager. Key Responsibilities _ Program Implementation & Facilitation _
- Support the planning and execution of local STEM Fellows events and sessions as directed by the Manager.
- Coordinate and secure appropriate event venues for programming, ensuring all logistical needs are met (space, accessibility, timing, etc.).
- Confirm and manage each session’s supplies, materials, and physical setup. Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as the local point of contact for high school Fellows and their families, sharing program details, event reminders, and responding to questions or concerns.
- Maintain professional and proactive communication with parents/guardians throughout the program year.
- Coordinate with local vendors to secure food and refreshments for Fellows sessions. Business Site Identification Support
- Assist the STEM Fellows Manager by identifying and recommending potential local businesses, organizations, or institutions that could serve as host sites for STEM Fellows programming.
- Conduct initial outreach (e.g., phone call, email, site visit) to gather availability, capacity, and interest level.
- Submit business lead information and recommendations to the Manager for formal engagement and partnership development. _ Internal Coordination _
- Attend and actively participate in weekly 1:1 check-in meetings with the STEM Fellows Manager to report on progress, logistics, and local needs.
- Maintain clear documentation and status updates on event logistics, communications, and business lead outreach. Qualifications & Skills Required Qualifications
- A college degree or experience in education, youth development, or community-based programming is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating logistics or working with youth programs or event-based initiatives. Key Skills & Competencies
- Organized and detail-oriented, with strong ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders including parents, vendors, and community members.
- Able to identify opportunities and collaborate with leadership to execute shared goals.
- Proficient in basic computer skills, including Google Workspace and email platforms. Additional Requirements
- Must reside in or near the designated city or region.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to various program locations within the community.
- Must pass a background check if required by program or venue policy.
Compensation This is a part-time, hourly position. Compensation is commensurate with experience and regional cost of living. Approved local travel and program-related expenses will be reimbursed.
