FULL-TIME, EXEMPT Primary Objective/Position Summary:

Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison for clients who have confirmed meetings within the city. Responsible for client site visits and other activities associated with assigned conventions.

Major Areas of Accountability/Essential Duties:

Act as a liaison between the client, hotels, venues, convention center and Convention Sales Manager after a meeting is confirmed. Plan and conduct site inspections, highlighting area hotels, facilities, and activities of interest, as well as coordinating airport transfers and accommodations. Maintain professional, thorough, and detailed account management, utilizing our internal database, Simpleview. Maintain constant and open communication with Sales Managers about convention groups. Maintain contact with clients regarding needs associated with their convention, such as housing, staffing, transportation, venue and restaurant locations. Work with groups of all sizes, including some citywide conventions of over 5,000 rooms on peak. Plan and attend convention center and hotel pre and post conference meetings. Update client activities, correspondence, and post-site reports in sales database under assigned accounts. Attend assigned conferences to represent our destination and promote interest for future meetings. Maintain personal knowledge of all city venues, attractions and events; be able to discuss with clients and respond to any comments or concerns. Work with the Director of Convention Services & Events on special projects such as annual budgeting, database management, etc. Maintain the relationship between New Orleans & Company and the City’s Special Events division by attending monthly meetings at City Hall, and recapping said meeting. Complete other projects or duties as assigned by the Director of Convention Services & Events and/or the Senior Vice President of Sales & Strategies. Education and/or

Experience:

Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and three to five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite or similar. Knowledge of spreadsheets and database programs, desired. Prior experience with a CRM or data management system a plus. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to manage multiple objectives simultaneously and prioritize appropriately. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, members and/or employees of the organization. Ability to work well in a team environment.

Ability to travel by airplane and operate a motor vehicle.
