POSITION SUMMARY
The Superintendent is responsible for coordination of all field activities in order to complete the project safely, on time, in budget and per plans and specs. Coordinates, plans, and supervises assistant superintendents, contractors and/or craft activities in a particular discipline. Maintains liaison with other departments to ensure all required material, equipment and inspections support the project schedule. This position will require some night-time work.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises, coordinates, or schedules all field activity, including initial and ongoing mobilizations to the job site in accordance with SOP Verifies insurance requirements on project subcontractors and assists with required safety documentation prior to subcontractor beginning work Coordinates scheduling for all project activities in conjunction with Project Manager and subcontractors Schedules and coordinates work activities with all construction project activities to keep project on schedule Manages activities of subcontractors and vendors/suppliers to ensure timely completion of project Maintains and updates two-week look ahead, & overall project schedule with PM & project participants Works closely with Project Manager to determine measures required to stay within budget, (time, scope & quality) Orders required materials or supplies; ensures purchase orders are accurate and drays are coded and submitted in a timely manner to facilitate timely construction Monitors and maintains all tools and equipment used on the project Posts and communicates required and important information such as plan and specification changes, permits, emergency information, etc. Executes daily reports and records information such as personnel, production, or operational data on specified forms or reports daily and timekeeping accurately recorded Supervises work of workers through the planning and scheduling of work, and the review and approval of tasks with subcontractors, superintendent and foremen Conducts QC preparatory meetings for each definable feature of work, regularly checks work status and craftsmanship and ensures that project specifications are met and complied with Schedules and secures necessary documentation for all required tests and inspections and quality control requirements Reviews the contract, project site, construction plans, and specifications to gain a full understanding of project scope, time and budget Examines and inspects work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety; ensures required health and safety information, JHA’s are performed and properly documented. Implements corporate safety plan at jobsite level Conducts weekly safety meeting and documents topic on safety meeting form Conducts daily safety walk through of project Assists and conducts near misses and accident investigations Other duties as assigned
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management preferred Three to 10 years of related experience and/or training in the construction field Exposure to layout, QC and like construction skills helpful
COMPUTER SKILLS
Basic personal computer skills Specific software used includes, Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
CERTIFICATE/LICENSES
First aid and CPR Certificate OSHA 10 or 30-Hour Certificate OSHA Training pertaining to scaffolds, steel erections, fall protection, excavations and electrical safety
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical and mental demands of this position must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
