KEY REQUIREMENTS

Previousexperience in the high voltage industry and a minimum of threeyears’ experience of site work. An Installation Supervisor shouldhave experience in installation work of various sizes,complexities, and technologies. A must is exeperience workingwithin a live HV compound and how to achieve safety from the HVsystem. Below is a list of preferred experience and knowledgerequired, practical as well as theoretical preferred.

  • HVDCconverter / switching stations, onshore and / or offshore.
  • Transformers converter and / or AC.
  • HV cable, pulling andtermination.
  • LV control & power cables, pulling and termination
  • HV Main circuit equipment including breakers, reactors,resistors, arresters, CTs, etc.
  • AC GIS and / or AISinstallations.
Responsabilities:

The Installation Supervisororganizes, and coordinates Client activities related toinstallation work and test of the equipment on site, within thefield of responsibility related to installation. The InstallationSupervisor is a project site based role, and they report directlyto the Regional Manager of HVDC Installation. They are involved onall aspects of the installation scope including HSE, qualitycontrol, programme, and execution. Reporting to the InstallationManager at the site level, the Installation Supervisor willtypically act as the Installation Managers second. Processes forthese responsibilities can be found within the Adonis onlinesystem. The responsibility to complete these tasks falls onto theInstallation Manager, however it will be the role of theInstallation Supervisor to assist in the completion of these tasks,in a more visible presence on site. This document provides theminimum ex pected from an Installation Supervisor working on asite, however the below list is non exhaustive. When thisdescription states “ensures”, the responsibility sits with anotherfunction, but the Installation Supervisor should check that thiswork is being done. Reports and gives assistance to the followingbased on the installation scope.

  • Site Manager
  • Any communicationwith the Site Manager is done via the Installation Managerfollowing to correct lines of communication. In the absence of theInstallation Manager, the Installation Supervisor will provideplanning information and coordination over all activities. Ensuresthat the Site Manager is given all the necessary information toreport back within the project.
  • Installation Manager
  • At sitelevel, an Installation Supervisor reports directly to theInstallation Manager and receives their daily tasks from theInstallation Manager.
  • Civil Construction Representative
  • Co-ordinates the installation work with the civil team.
  • HSE Team
  • Aids the HSE team with all matters relating to the installationscope. This can include the control of work areas, review of RAMSdocumentation and general co-ordination.
  • Quality Team
  • Raisesquality concerns and provides information relating to allinstallation scope QITs.
  • Commissioning Team
  • Co-ordinates theinstallation work with the commissioning scope whenever there is anoverlap. Takes a key role in assessing work areas for electricalsafety when there is an overlap between installation andcommissioning scopes.
  • Document Control
  • Ensures that theinstallation contractor is using the correct “issued forconstruction” drawings and that they are the correct revision.
  • Logistics Co-ordinator
  • Works closely with the LogisticsCo-ordinator to ensure that all equipment is avail able in the workarea on time and stored as per the correct requirements.
  • Rest ofthe Site Installation Team
  • This could include anotherInstallation Supervisor, Installation Manager, Cable Supervisor,Valve Supervisor, Transformer Supervisor, however this list is notexhaustive. The Instal lation Supervisor should work as a teamwithin this function and support each other ‘ s roles. For example,covering where needing and sharing any observations that may assistother members of the team.
  • Installation Contractor
  • Co-ordinatesall the installation work with the installation contractor andensures that they have all the necessary information required tocomplete this scope of work.
