The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in risk management, occupational health, and compliance management, particularly within the construction industry. This role is critical in fostering a culture of safety, minimizing workplace hazards, and ensuring that all employees adhere to safety protocols.
Summary:
- Develop and implement risk management, loss prevention, safety and regulatory compliance programs.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local and site specific regulations and standards involving safety and environmental management.
- Eliminate or control hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment and machine operations which may lead to human injury and/or property damage.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring all foreman have proper tools and training to accomplish day-to-day safety requirements (company, jobsite, government).
- Responsible for coordinating, administering and implementing comprehensive training programs in occupational, industrial and environmental safety.
- Responds to reported accidents to evaluate current best practices and recommend changes where necessary.
- Properly and timely files reports (i.e., accident/injury reports, OSHA reports, work site reports, etc.)
- Manage company safety rewards program.
- Process and file worker’s compensation claims with insurance provider as agreed upon with supervisor.
- Interact with risk management experts in improving the work site involving safety and environmental regulations.
- Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
Education/Training/Experience:
- At least a High School Diploma or a GED.
- Ideal candidate should have bachelor’s degree in safety management, occupational environment health and safety, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 5 years construction safety experience.
- Knowledge of safety rules and regulations at all levels of government/company, including federal, state and local.
- Experience working with the Corp of Engineers
EM385 1-1.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
- Extensive knowledge of environmental and occupational health and safety.
- CPR trainer certification.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), ToolWatch (material/equipment inventory software).
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local safety regulations, protocols and/or procedures.
- Ability to communicate and interact with officials at all levels of profession.
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
- Able to develop, implement, and enforce safety programs and protocols.
- Skill in developing safety procedures and protocols.
- Good time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organization.
- Able to maintain confidential information.
- Must have good command of the English language, oral and written.
- Must be able to direct staff in handling safety concerns.
