HVAC Project Manager 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars Ridgeland, MS 39157 Job Summary The primary function of a HVAC Project Manager is to plan, coordinate, execute, and maintain an effective field construction organization utilizing the necessary engineering, labor, equipment, materials, tools, subcontracted services, and other company resources to effectively perform the scope of contracted work within an allotted budget and time schedule. Responsibilities Ensure project performance and timelines are met by performing the following. Attendance at job site meetings, progress reports, cost reports, performance evaluations, inspections, and working closely with field crew supervision. Participate in the conceptual development of projects and oversee organization, scheduling, and execution while working closely with owners, general contractors, architects, and engineers to resolve design related construction issues. Purchase major HVAC equipment and other materials for projects. Plan, organize, direct and coordinate manpower, equipment, tools and supply needs to achieve project objectives. Manage administrative aspects of contracts (change orders, rental equipment, coding, billing and expenses, collections, etc.) by working closely with administrative staff and accounting, communicating all financial details to appropriate parties. Responsible for plan submittals, project permitting, and inspection compliance. Complete job closeout process including resolution of punch list items, recording of as-builts drawings, organization and distribution of IOM manuals, test and balance report filing, and warranty items. Perform all reasonable actions to ensure the project is successful, on-time, and on or under budget. Attend meetings and functions as required. Perform additional assignments as requested by management. Coordinate project scheduling and resource allocation to optimize workflow. Manage a team of HVAC technicians, providing guidance, training, and support as needed. Review schematics and technical drawings to ensure accurate implementation of HVAC systems. Utilize construction management software for project tracking and reporting. Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. Troubleshoot issues that arise during installation or maintenance processes.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Four-year technical education in HVAC, engineering, or construction management preferred or equivalent field experience. Minimum 5 years’ experience directly managing design-build and plan-spec projects between $250K and $1M. Ability to effectively read and understand mechanical plans, specifications, and construction bulletin details. Excellent analytical and problem solving, strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Proficient computer and Microsoft application skills. Detail oriented, self-motivated, and work well under pressure. Proficiency in construction management software such as Bluebeam and Prolog. Strong project management skills with experience in project coordination and scheduling using tools like Primavera. Excellent time management abilities to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair techniques. Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documentation accurately. Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development and performance improvement.
