Job Description

General Construction Site Superintendent Central Builders Inc. of Mebane Graham, NC 27253 Central Builders, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Site Superintendent to oversee and manage all on-site construction activities. As a Construction Superintendent, you will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards, while also managing subcontractors, ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations, and maintaining effective communication with project stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, excellent leadership abilities, and a proven track record of successfully leading and coordinating construction projects. Duties Includes but not limited to the following: Supervise and manage all on-site construction activities, including coordinating subcontractors, scheduling work, and overseeing progress. Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards. Procure all necessary materials and supplies as well as equipment and tools. Monitor work quality, safety compliance, and adherence to project schedules. Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to address project requirements and resolve any issues or challenges that may arise. Manage and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers, ensuring that they meet project requirements and deliverables. Monitor and control project budgets, expenses, and costs to maintain profitability and ensure that projects are completed within budgetary constraints. Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all on-site personnel. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of project activities, including daily logs, progress reports, and documentation of any changes or deviations from the project plan. Communicate regularly with project stakeholders, providing updates on project status, milestones, and any issues or concerns that may impact project delivery. Provide leadership and guidance to on-site personnel, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May manage one subordinate supervisor (Assistant Superintendent). Also directly supervises all employees, subcontractors, and vendors on the jobsite.

Skills Required:

Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent or in a similar role overseeing on-site construction activities. Strong knowledge of construction techniques, practices, and safety regulations. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve project goals. Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, blueprints, and specifications. Effective communication and people skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. A proactive attitude with a willingness to update and increase knowledge concerning the construction industry.

Experience:

High school diploma is required – additional college such as an associate degree or bachelor’s degree is valuable; or five years of construction experience is needed – previous leadership duties in construction are ideal; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid North Carolina Drivers License with an Insurable driving record.

Physical Demands:

While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
