General Superintendent Queue Labor Greensboro, NC 27408 Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Superintendent to oversee construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, with the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards. Richmond, VA Leadership & Oversight:
Oversee and support multiple electrical project superintendents across various commercial construction sites. Set performance expectations and ensure consistency in field execution, safety, and quality. Coordinate with project managers and executives to align field operations with broader project and business objectives.
Workforce Planning & Management:
Forecast labor needs and allocate resources across projects. Assist in hiring, training, and developing field personnel, including journeymen, foremen, and superintendents. Promote workforce efficiency and productivity while maintaining morale and accountability.
Scheduling & Coordination:
Monitor and ensure adherence to overall project schedules. Resolve scheduling conflicts and coordinate manpower moves between projects. Attend planning meetings with general contractors and other trades to ensure effective coordination.
Quality & Safety Assurance:
Enforce company-wide safety programs and ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, and local codes. Conduct regular job site visits to inspect work quality, safety practices, and progress. Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for field-related issues.
Strategic Field Operations:
Develop and implement standardized field processes and best practices. Evaluate tools, technologies, and materials to improve field performance and cost-efficiency. Provide input on constructability reviews and preconstruction planning.
Reporting & Communication:
Serve as the primary liaison between field operations and senior management. Prepare and present regular progress reports and forecasts for labor, productivity, and site performance. Assist with budgeting and cost control as it relates to field activities.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
High school diploma required; Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction management, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred. Would be Nice but not requiered 10+ years of experience in commercial electrical construction, including at least 5 years in a senior supervisory or general superintendent role.
Licenses & Certifications:
Journeyman or Master Electrician license preferred or as required by jurisdiction. OSHA 30 required; additional safety certifications a plus (e.g., NFPA 70E, First Aid/CPR).
Skills & Competencies:
Expert knowledge of NEC, local building codes, and industry safety practices. Strong leadership and mentoring abilities with proven success managing large teams. Excellent planning, scheduling, and conflict-resolution skills. Proficient in construction management software, project tracking tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. Able to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction schedules.
Physical Requirements:
Regular travel to job sites. Ability to walk, climb, and inspect active construction zones in varying weather conditions.
