ABOUT THE POSITION

Senior Project Manager / Team Lead – Land Engineering | Hybrid | Charlotte, NC VHB’s Charlotte, NC office is seeking a Senior Project Manager/Team Lead to join our site/civil land development team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of high-impact projects across private real estate, higher education, healthcare, parks and recreation, and local government sectors. We’re looking for a leader who is design-oriented, technically driven, and passionate about mentoring engineers and delivering projects that bring clients back again and again. Learn more about VHB’s Land Development team here: Land Development | VHB Responsibilities Lead and develop site/civil engineering plans and specifications for projects in institutional, healthcare, higher education, private real estate, parks and recreation, and local government sectors Deliver high-quality, technically sound projects that foster long-term client relationships Mentor and teach junior engineers, offering both technical direction and career development support Provide consistent quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) throughout project lifecycles Manage small to large-scale projects from concept through construction Build, guide, and lead a high-performing, multi-disciplinary land development engineering team Identify and pursue new project opportunities and assist in proposal preparation Prepare and review land development design and permitting documents Maintain strong client relations and oversee project financial performance Attend and lead meetings with clients, agencies, and stakeholders to discuss design and permitting issues Oversee design activities during the Construction Administration phase Skills and Attributes Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Strong background in site layout, grading, utility design, and stormwater management Experience with private real estate, institutional, and local government projects Proven leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills Critical thinker with strong multitasking abilities Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail Self-motivated and passionate about delivering outstanding results Qualifications BS in Civil Engineering or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred PE (Professional Engineer) licensure in North Carolina required 8 – 11+ years of experience in site/civil engineering design, project management, and team leadership Relevant experience with higher education, healthcare, parks and recreation, and/or local government sectors Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Project, and MS Office Suite Experience with GIS systems is a plus We are VHB!
