Primary Purpose of Position:
Do you enjoy our state parks and want to plan, organize, schedule, and track resources for exhibits, signage, and other projects for the Division of Parks and Recreation? The NC State Parks is seeking an Art and Design Manager to direct the day-to-day activities and ongoing projects of the interpretive design team within the Interpretation and Education section. Key Responsibilities included but are not limited to: Directing the day-to-day activities and ongoing projects of the interpretive design team. Planning, organizing, scheduling, and tracking resources for exhibits, signage, and other projects. Exhibit development and production process and plays a key role in executing the exhibit strategy and design direction. Creating, maintaining, and promoting working relationships within the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) to support arts integration into NC Parks. Essential working relationships include the North Carolina Museum of Art and the NC Arts Council. Identification of park-specific opportunities to uplift the arts within public spaces, translation of those opportunities into requests for proposals, and assistance in evaluating submissions. Communicate in-depth information fort he purpose of interpreting and/or negotiating. Understand complex problems and collaborate to explore alternative solutions. Ensuring that selected installations or projects are well-integrated into the design, maintenance, and evaluation processes. Make decision that have significant impact on a department’s credibility, operations, and/or services. Organize and prioritize the work schedules of others to manage multiple tasks and/or projects.
Position/Physical Requirements:
Work schedule will primarily be Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Must be available to work after hours, weekends, and holidays when necessary. Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license within 90 days of employment. Must be able to exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects with or without reasonable accommodation. Work requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing; viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading; visual inspections involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes with or without reasonable accommodation. Demonstrated experience overseeing and assisting in the construction, fabrication, and installation of projects, ensuring they meet design specifications and safety standards.
