Senior Claim Director-Construction Position Available In Nassau, New York

Job Description:

This is a role focused on technical claim handling for Chubb’sConstruction Team. In this individual contributor role you willmanage complex construction-related general liability claims, bothlitigated and non-litigated, under both primary and excesspolicies. There will be more of a focus on bodily injury claims,but will also involve claims involving property damage specificallydefect claims. This role requires an individual to be accountablefor the handling and disposition of significant exposure claimsincluding investigation, coverage determination, reserving,negotiation and settlement or trial strategies. This position willrequire some travel, as well as coordinating with and servicingboth internal and external business partners. You will representthe company at meetings with management and business partners, aswell as at mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences andtrials. Responsibilities Manage an inventory of claims involvingsignificant severity exposures and coverage issues. Conduct,coordinate, and direct investigation into loss facts, damages andrisk transfer opportunities. Evaluate coverage, liability, anddamages to determine the exposure to the insured and the policy.

Analyze coverage and communicate coverage positions, as warranted,within assigned authority. Demonstrate and implement effectivedefense, resolution and claim strategies. Direct and closelymonitor assignments to experts and defense counsel subject toestablished guidelines. Provide superior customer service toinsureds, agents, and internal business partners. Adhere to BestPractices Guidelines. Adhere to individual authority grants, allstatutory and regulatory requirements, fair claim practices andlocal compliance requirements, including examiner licensing.

Travels to conferences, mediations, and trials as necessary. Ten ormore years of experience as a casualty claim professional handlingcomplex high exposure casualty claims with emphasis on hands-onfile and litigation management. Experience with primary and excessbodily injury, property damage, and personal injury claims. Strongbackground and demonstrated ability in dealing with significantcoverage matters. Working knowledge of industry best practices andprocedures. An ability to work independently and assimilatelearning materials on many different subjects from various sources.

Excellent interpersonal communications and negotiation skills; andan ability to deal with customers and business partners in aprofessional manner. Ability to make prompt, intelligent decisionsbased upon detailed analyses of complex issues. Demonstrated strongrelational skills particularly in adverse or high-pressuresituations. A law degree is not necessary but helpful. The payrange for the role is $105,700 to $179,700. The specific offer willdepend on an applicant’s skills and other factors.
