Our team also delivers a fully comprehensive construction services line to municipal, state, federal, heavy highway, commercial, and private customers. We are seeking experienced Superintendents to join our growing company. With safety always being in the forefront, the Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all aspects of on-site construction projects. They will ensure that projects are completed within budget, on time, and to our standards. The Superintendent manages the work crews, subcontractors, and daily operations. We service the Capital District and a few outlying counties. There are not any long distance, extended travel requirements for this position.
Responsibilities:
Develops a schedule and cost-effective plan for completion of an assigned project. Manage daily operations of projects; labor, materials, equipment, and hired trucking. Ensure safety compliance; DOT, OSHA, New Castle Paving Health & Safety Plan, etc. Collaborates with other staff to create preconstruction estimates and budgets for materials and labor. Coordinates and schedules the work activities of tradespeople, professionals, and laborers, communicating to and via project foreperson to deliver instructions and project assignments as appropriate. Regularly inspects work for quality and timeliness; prepares and provides progress reports to management; makes recommendations for necessary modifications. Collaborates with pertinent stakeholders to ensure specifications, zoning requirements, and other regulations are met. Ensure specifications and regulations outlined in engineering plans are followed. Monitors budget throughout the project and communicates variances as they occur. Maintains records related to costs and inventory. Addresses any safety violations or other deficiencies. Collaborate with union representatives to answer questions and clarify procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred A minimum of 7 years of experience in heavy highway, utility, and/or asphalt paving construction projects required. Prior experience with estimating, RFQ’s, sub/supplier buyouts, pre-construction, job cost control, RFI’s, scheduling, submittals, change orders, correspondence, preferred. 3 – 5 years of supervisory experience. Excellent interpersonal skills; effective communication and the ability to develop strong team members are essential for this position. Must possess thorough knowledge of NYSDOT standards and specifications relating to heavy highway construction.
Requirements:
Strong planning, organizational, and prioritizing skills Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment with strict deadlines. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to work in the field, as needed, in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and extreme cold. Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position. Must possess and maintain a clean, valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record which meets New Castle Paving’s insurance standards.
