Job Description
Construction Project Coordinator Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area Harrisburg, PA 17110 Overview The Construction Project Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Construction Manager at Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area, with project assignments directed by the Executive Director of the Affiliate. Given the nature of non-profit work, the candidate must have a passion for public sector service and community engagement. The ideal candidate should have basic knowledge of general contracting and be able to assess, meet, and follow through on the administrative and physical aspects of home construction and renovation. Essential Duties & Responsibilities This is a developmental position where the candidate will build upon their general contracting skills to a broader construction management planner. Forecast materials needed for multiple construction site locations utilizing project management software or tracking system. Develop labor and project scheduling in order to minimize time spent on any one project. Conduct site assessments in order to determine the Affiliate’s ability to undertake a proposed construction/renovation project. Act as a liaison between construction and administrative staff. Create scopes of work to be approved by Construction Manager before submittal to various Federal, State, and Local funding sources. Ability to communicate both with private contractors, public officials, the local community, and counterparts alike. Physical ability to perform tasks for builds, rehabs and repairs of Habitat projects, including lifting up to 75 pounds and standing for long periods of time.
Experience/Education:
Experience required: 3 years experience in construction management preferred, or equivalent experience. Ability to coordinate new construction, home rehabs, and home repairs utilizing volunteers and contractors; ability to manage and supervise staff/volunteers/contractors; ability to lift 75 pounds or more; ability to operate a company vehicle, construction tools and equipment; interest in working with people of varying socio-economic backgrounds.
Education required:
The ideal candidate will have a mixture of formal industry training as well as on-the-job training. Please provide a listing of qualifications and certifications upon request. A working knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software is required. A valid driver’s license and background check is required.
