Job Description
Scanning Specialist Myco Mechanical 1 North Washington Street, Telford, PA 18969 We are seeking a skilled and motivated 3D Scanning Specialist to join our team. This full-time role involves capturing highly accurate 3D scans of site conditions using advanced hardware and software. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in reality capture technologies and capable of working independently in dynamic construction environments. This position reports directly to the VDC (Virtual Design and Construction) Manager and collaborates closely with project-specific VDC Specialists to meet project goals efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain 3D scanning hardware and software to capture as-built site conditions with speed, precision, and accuracy. Interpret project requirements and scanning objectives through collaboration with the VDC Manager and VDC Specialists. Perform field data collection at various job sites, ensuring data quality and completeness for downstream use in BIM and construction workflows. Upload, process, and manage scan data using industry-standard software (e.g., FARO Scene, Leica Cyclone, Autodesk ReCap, etc.). Provide clear documentation and reports that summarize scanning activities and any notable site observations. Ensure all scanning activities comply with company safety standards and job site protocols. Troubleshoot technical issues related to scanning equipment and software, coordinating with support teams as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
Proficiency in operating 3D laser scanning systems and associated processing software. Strong understanding of point cloud data and its integration into BIM or CAD environments. Ability to interpret construction drawings and site plans. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with field personnel, project managers, and subcontractors. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in the field and manage multiple assignments.
Physical and Travel Requirements:
Frequent travel to active construction sites is required; a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are essential. Must be comfortable navigating busy job sites, including walking on uneven surfaces and working around active equipment and crews. Ability to climb ladders, access elevated areas, and carry moderately heavy equipment (up to 15 lbs). This is a safety-sensitive position; adherence to all site-specific and company safety policies is mandatory.
Work Schedule:
Full-time position, Monday through Friday. Occasional early morning, evening, or weekend work may be required based on project needs.
