Who You Are:

Versar Global Solutions is seeking a full-time Moveable Bridge Mechanic in Charleston, SC, to perform electromechanical maintenance and repair of 8 bridge structures for the project as assigned. What You’ll Do:

Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, HVAC, plumbing, lighting and all other associated equipment on moveable and fixed bridge assets in Beaufort, Charleston and Horry Counties of South Carolina
Use various types of test equipment (Voltmeter, Meggar, Temperature Sensors, Pressure Gauges, etc.)
Maintain and request tools, materials, parts, lubricants and associated supplies for asset maintenance and repair
Maintain the appearance of the bridge by applying paint as needed
Adhere to recurring preventative maintenance schedule for inspection and or replacement of parts, components, and materials for functionality and operation of the structure
Read and interpret the Program Control Logic system, schematic and blueprint drawings
Use various types of electrical, mechanical, and hand tools
Climbs, moves and works at heights on and under bridges using proper safety equipment
Removes or remedies tripping or fall hazards, as needed
Works on platforms up to 25′ high (3 stories tall) and sometimes over water
Works with subcontractors and bridge tenders for operation and testing support, as needed
Conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections
Performs preventative maintenance on company vehicles or equipment
Logs maintenance work-order information and checklists manually and electronically
Provides after-hours emergency incident response as needed
Loads and unloads equipment, supplies, tools, and material
Uses all equipment, tools, materials, and supplies safely
Performs other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring:

2+ years of experience in mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic fields of work Must be comfortable working from heights and elevated platforms of up to 25′ (3 stories tall) and sometimes over water
High School Diploma or equivalent
Possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver’s License with no restrictions
Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal, to ensure effective communication and collaboration
Ability to lift to 75 lbs. and carry up to 25 lbs. regularly
Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods
Possess good oral and written communication skills
Willingness to work multiple shifts and varying hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime
Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
Successful results of preemployment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen
Comply with company drug and alcohol policy
Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate’s start date.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in building construction trades, building maintenance, or in the operation, maintenance and/or repair of water vessels, movable bridges, or other equipment such as heavy, mobile, mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic.
Experience with Program Control Logic
Electrical License or Certification
Experience reading electrical plans/blueprints/schematic drawings
Location Requirements
The position will primarily work onsite in Charleston, SC.

Monday through

Friday:

8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday:

For emergencies only

Overtime:

Minimal and not often

Compensation Expected Salary:

$22.00 – $30.00 per hour
