$61.6K – $74.7K a year 2 days ago Qualifications Paving Management Driver’s License Construction Senior level Communication skills Full Job Description Summary At Hi-Way Paving, we are general contractors in the construction field that specialize in significant amounts of concrete paving, storm drainage, and excavation on highways and airfields. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on leader to join our team as a Concrete Paving Superintendent. This position will support the preparation and/or execution of slipform and fixed form paving operations, and the construction finished pavements meeting stringent FAA, USACE, and various state DOT specifications. The Concrete Paving Superintendent’s responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and supervising concrete paving field operations. This position requires up to 100% travel to project locations such as Nashville, TN, Charlotte, NC, Columbia, SC, and other future project locations. If you’re a hands-on leader with a strong background in heavy civil construction and paving, this is an excellent opportunity to manage high-profile infrastructure projects while working with an expert team.

What You’ll Do:

Lead and manage a team of foremen, delegating responsibilities and scheduling workers, equipment, and materials deliveries. Establish performance expectations, provide regular feedback, identify training and development needs, and conduct on-the-job training. Inspect grade conditions, forms, and steel placement to ensure compliance with specifications before concrete placements. Coordinate slipform paving operations using GOMACO equipment with stringless technology. Oversee and implement fixed-form paving operations as needed. Monitor all aspects of placement, finishing, and curing to ensure compliance with project specifications. Inspect field conditions, identify potential problems or cost-saving opportunities, and take corrective action as necessary. Perform and report time and cost coding for all team members. Enforce safety rules and practices in accordance with governing authorities and site-specific safety plans.

What We Look For:
Experience:

5+ years as a Paving Foreman, Superintendent, or related site management role (preferred). Experience with GOMACO paving equipment (preferred).

Safety Expertise:

OSHA training or advanced safety certifications (preferred). Leadership & Attention to

Detail:

Ability to manage crews, multitask in a fast-paced environment, and ensure precision.

Communication Skills:

Strong verbal and written communication to effectively coordinate with teams. Must be able to travel overnight up to 100% based on project needs. Ability to gain clearance for restricted/high-security zones (e.g., airport AOA, military bases). Valid driver’s license. Physical ability to lift 75 lbs, climb, walk, kneel, squat, push, pull, and enter confined spaces. If applicable, indicate union affiliation in your application.
