CommercialConstruction Superintendent Job Description:
A Superintendentdirects the work flow of the project on site consistent with theproject schedule and HITT safety and quality standards. TheSuperintendent provides leadership and serves as the liaisonbetween project team members to promote the interest of both thebusiness and clients in all matters, as well as demonstrate thecharacteristics of a mid-level leader. The Superintendentcommunicates project priorities to site staff and allsubcontractors, serving as the primary leader on site for theconstruction project. Responsibilities Understanding andadministering the HITT safety program to include allsubcontractors, ensuring that all accidents/incidents are promptlyreported and investigated, and assisting in safety inspections byoutside agencies Maintain HITT quality standards for all aspects ofthe project Serve as the leader for all on site safety, managing asafe jobsite for all involved Maintain daily log of all activitiesand site conditions, while managing the punch list and closeoutprocess through owner/architect acceptance Work with the projectmanager in formulating project schedule, ensuring that the propermethods and sequence of installation are followed, making andfollowing through with schedule commitments, and maintaining HITTquality standards Maintain good working relationships with allsubcontractors on the project, developing relationships within thecommunity which enhance business opportunities, and ensuringsubcontractors are treated fairly Ensure complete, accurate dailydocumentation of work orders/tickets, understanding subcontractorscope of work to avoid unnecessary change orders, and identifyingproblems early and act immediately to provide solutions Develop andorganize the site team, arranging for temporaryfacilities/utilities for the site, and identifying long lead itemsthat need to be expedited Collaborate with the project manager andsite operations team throughout the life of the projectQualifications A four-year degree from an accredited universitywith a concentration in construction, engineering, or business isstrongly preferred. In lieu of a degree, additional work experienceis acceptable. 5 years’ experience in commercial construction,including experience with a commercial general contractor Tenantrenovations, service work, work in occupied spaces, weekend work,fast paced project experience all a plus Mastery of buildingprocesses and best practices Ability to organize necessaryresources, including people, tools and time to meet tight deadlinesand achieve desired results Project lead experience preferredPrevious experience in a superintendent or project lead experiencepreferred Ability to master sector/project-specific softwaresystems including but not limited to: Microsoft Office suite (ex.
Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.), ProCore, Adobe,BlueBeam, OSHA 30 Certification preferred Ability to walk and/orstand for long periods of time and the ability to lift up to 50lbsMust demonstrate a strong ability to: Communicate clearly,concisely, and professionally, with a strong focus on audienceappropriate business writing and verbal skills Demonstrate apositive attitude and passion for construction and our industryGather data, interpret it into meaningful information, and relaythat information through clear, concise communication strategies;ability to see how pieces and processes fit into and affect thebigger picture/business model Organize and manage tasks andpriorities Demonstrate integrity consistently with The HITT Way andHITT’s core values Seek continuous improvement of knowledge andabilities, internal focus on self-improvement Adapt and exerciseflexibility with the ever-changing world of technology, design,means and methods Collaborate with people of various backgroundsand styles Create and maintain relationships with colleagues,clients, subcontractors, and vendors Exhibit respectfulness bybeing punctual, engaged/focused, and respectful of others HITTContracting, Inc. is committed to creating a diverse and inclusiveenvironment.
