Job Summary:

This position holds responsibility for assistingthe Project Superintendent in supervising the total constructioneffort to ensure that a project is constructed in accordance withdesign, budget, schedule, and required safety elements. TheAssistant Superintendent may be required to take fullresponsibility on a given project at the request of the GeneralSuperintendent. A company vehicle will be provided.

Duties ℜsponsibilities:

Study construction documents and be responsiblefor layout of the building.

Assist as directed by the ProjectSuperintendent in planning, prioritizing, coordinating, andsupervising multiple activities for project, including determiningmethod of construction, manpower levels, material quantities,equipment needs, temporary power sources, and workschedule.

Coordinate work with different crafts and sub-contractors,sharing the responsibility for productivity, efficient use ofmaterials and equipment, and contractual performance of theproject.

Ensure work complies with drawings, specifications andschedule.

Maintain a working relationship with owners, architects,and Project Manager.

Assist in resolving construction problems (lackof productivity, work interfaces, etc.) as required.

Maintainawareness of safety rules and procedures among personnel, as wellas identify safety hazards and implementing correctiveactions.

Maintain cost control and adherence to projectbudget.

Document employees’ actual hours worked and submit toHR/Payroll Coordinator each week in the absence of theSuperintendent.

Perform additional assignments at supervisor’sdirection.

Knowledge, Experience & Competencies:

Minimum of a highschool diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Managementor similar major preferredMust possess a valid, state-issueddriver’s licenseMinimum 6 years of work experience in a commercialconstruction environment, of which 2 years must be at the ForemanlevelAbility to read, understand, and implement constructiondocumentsAbility to calculate correct concrete and lumberquantities for projectsMust have basic competencies in mathematicsand be able to perform math operations rapidly andaccuratelyExcellent supervisory skills with ability to directlysupervise up to 30 employees, as well as sub-contractorsGoodinterpersonal skills with customer-service orientation as well asability to maintain confidentialityExcellent oral and writtencommunication skillsAbility to produce quality work in an efficientmanner with little supervision in an ever-changing environmentGoodcomputer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, andinternet-based applicationsAbility to operate basic officeequipment including computer, printer, copier, fax, scanner, andmobile phone/radioAbility to operate pickup truck, transit & level,backhoe, scissor lift, boomlift, forklift, skidsteer, and handtoolsCurrent OSHA Construction 10-Hour certificationCurrent basicfirst aid/CPR certificationMust complete Tennessee Drug-FreeWorkplace Supervisor Training within 6 months of being inpositionAbility to work Monday through Friday, eight to nine hoursper day, five days per week between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 4:00p.m. Ability to work Saturdays and Sundays as needed to meetproject schedules and demandsAbility to be on-call 24 hours a day,7 days a week for project site emergencies

SupervisoryResponsibility:

Position directly supervises the positions ofProject Foreman, Carpenter, Carpenter Helper, Laborer, ConcreteFinisher, Operator, and Job Clerk.

Travel Requirements:

Daily travelto various job site locations within 100-mile radius ofofficeOccasional travel to meetings or events within 50-mile radiusof office, 4 – 6 times per yearOccasional out-of-townassignments
